Russia's Putin reveals 'invincible' nuclear weapons

Mr Putin made the revelation as he laid out his key policies for a fourth presidential term, ahead of an election he is expected to win in 17 days' time.

The weapons he showcased included a cruise missile that he said can "reach anywhere in the world".

Using video presentations, he said the missile could not be stopped by the US shield in Europe and Asia.

It was "a low-flying, difficult-to-spot cruise missile with a nuclear payload with a practically unlimited range and an unpredictable flight path, which can bypass lines of interception and is invincible in the face of all existing and future systems of both missile defence and air defence".

Another weapon he discussed was a submarine launched, long-range missile capable of delivering a nuclear warhead.

President Putin's emphasis on a strong Russia modernising its nuclear arsenal is a reflection of similar statements over recent months from his US counterpart Donald Trump.

So....Russia has undue influence over US politics, elections, administration, social media....but US is causing Putin to do stuff we don't like?

Pick a narrative and stick with it

Prolly a copy of US cruse missiles built from stolen US sspecifications.

Trump has said we need to rebuild some of the tactical (smaller) nuclear bombs we had previously destroyed in favor of mega bombs used as a nuclear deterrent. The reason cited, NK thinking we would only have conventional bombs to respond to a NK nuclear attack because all our nuclear bombs are too large to deploy in NK.

Russia's interference with our election and social media and Putin's "new" invincible missile press release are part of a larger and successful Russian strategy to sow discord and fear in the usa .

I am sure none of this is new to our intelligence community and that we have similar WOMD.

it IS discouraging to see that after decades of world nuclear disarmament strategies led by the US and USSR (remember Reagan and Gorbachev?) and apparent efforts to achieve peace through diplomacy...we are back on the road to nuclear proliferation...guess we need to dust off the gubment cheese in the fallout shelters and have our kids practicing the "hide under the desk" drills...
