Such an amazing gesture to an unknown person...

The Old Penn is naked because that is going to be breakfast in a few minutes...

My gratitude, and my respect...

Thank You!

Awe man, this is making me slobber all over my desk. Very nice indeed David and well done.

I love the palio cutters and KFC's to boot. Maybe I am just a little brain dead but the palio cutters do just as well as my high dollar colibri cutter, sometimes even better than. I have not had one long enough to be able to tell if they hold up long term but if they do, then they just cant be beat. I love high tech gadgets a lot but, the palio for some reason I love the simplicity of it. No springs, No buttons to push, you don't have to stand on your head, move your pecker to the left and do a finger print scan to get it to work.

Salmoneye, I just wanted to say, I appreciate the link to the full sized image. For us blind peeps that makes a huge difference. 🍺

Sounds weird to me...I always thought of Colibri as the Gurkha of cigar accessories. And, until recent 'developments' (new owners, apparent cheaper plastic, branding, etc.), Palio was widely considered to be among the finest of cutters.

I gotcha, I was not lucky enough to get to try the equipment of back in the day. Which if I had I am sure I would be disappointed in today's paraphernalia. I have yet today found a better cutter than Palio, Colibri or Xikar. Which I don't know of any others that are what would be considered "High End"

I picked up an RP-logoed Palio from here a couple months ago. Compared to those made several years ago, it is certainly 'similar'. Form of plastic is not quite the same (almost, but missing the 'cigar-rest bump'), but the material is clearly different - lighter and likely not as durable, though I certainly don't know that yet. It just doesn't have the same heft/feel as the earlier versions. The steel does seem to be the same, but a couple months of limited use is obviously not a test. I love Palios, but I love Xikars even more. I have had a number of Xi2's and 3's - none ever wore down or broke -- but I have lost a couple/few ---- most recently bounced one right off the starboard side of my kayak. I have had a couple/few Colibri cutters years ago because they seemed like they must be a great deal...I saved SOOO much off of msrp. OK for a short while, but no where near Xikar/Palio. But, it was Colibri lighters that really led to my attitude about the brand. Never had a one that wasn't pure junk.

I can safely say that the Palio I was gifted is the best cutter I have lol

I usually make my own punches from spent cartridge cases,
but I have been using this since it arrived...

Me likey...

Salmoneye was asking about non-infused DE cigars, so I tried to send him a sampling of as many mid-range ones as I had.

Palio used to be THE cutter. I loved the first one that I won years ago, but it eventually dulled after maybe 400 - 500 cuts. I then found the Xikar Xi-8, which is a Palio clone, except it cuts larger ring guages. The Xikar lasted about twice as long as the Palio before dulling. I definitely prefer the Palio and Xi-8 style cutters over the spring loaded "butterfly" ones.

I was shocked to see Palios closing at auction for sometimes as low as $4 - $5, especially since they are $34 at the mother ship and around $25 on FF. I took advantage and grabbed a bunch for super cheap. As Dave stated, they are not the same. There is something a little "off" about them. Some glide nicey, and some are very stiff and almost useless. The first one I opened was a stiff one, and it tore the crap out of my cigars. The 2nd one I opened was fine, and cut like a Palio should.

I'm checking them now before sending them out. I didn't check yours Chris, so if it is stiff, let me know and I'll mail you another.

Oh well, 70 degrees here in SJ, so I'm heading out for a smoke.

I do not own a xikar cutter. I am wanting to get the newest xikar v cutter. I had read reviews where folks really loved it. I do love a V cut but good gawd, One left nut and half the bank account to get one.

Salmoneye, You just cant beat a punch made from good spent brass. Makes a man feel like he got his balls back for a day!

The one colibri/firebird lighter I have was from David and I love that thing. It has yet to fail a single strike. The only xikar lighter I have is a Trezo that was a birthday gift from a dear friend years ago. That thing only sees daylight when my wife is taking me out somewhere nice but man I love it and again one that never fails. Well except the time I had to send it in due to it became an issue to light. Once they fixed it though its just like the one David sent me, it never fails. Their life time warranty just cant be beat.

I KNOW, for a fact, just how much David missed this place, and evidenced by his recent bombings of the noobs.

On a side note, Dave . . .
Looks like Sat, June 9th, will be the date for the Annual Spear "Herf & Turf".
Will let you know when it's official.

I got one for $4 about 3 months ago.......they're in a whole different league from the $1 plastics I had been using, I still keep the cheapie in the truck, but the Palio is my go to now......it looks good, feels nice and solid in the hand and cuts smooth.....YMMV
