MACS. You are missing the point entirely.
Wearing a seatbelt doesn't restrict your choices while driving.
I don't actually have life insurance... Why bother?

As for the shooting victims, that's just a dumb argument. Of course if I know the day and time I'm going to get shot at I'll choose to have a gun. But guess what, that's the same dumb argument that started this... I don't think it's worth carrying every day to make sure you have a gun in those few minutes. Playing "what if" with timelines like this is ridiculous, simply because it changes too many variables. Every minute of every day of your life things happen which can go wrong. It isn't just the big exciting explosive events.

Ballistic vests... I don't imagine they are that uncomfortable or restrict the choices they have when wearing them, but if a cop thinks it is, why would I tell him it's dumb not to wear one?

Again, this is about options. A gun adds one option but takes away a number of others. Every minute of day you carry a gun you do not have the options which were taken away, but have the one additional option which it provides. I have personally found that having those options which a gun takes away to be options which I enjoy having. I would not choose to exchange them.

There's the differance between you and me Victor. I'm almost 61 years old and I have never been in a fight (outside of High School), nor has anyone ever shoved me. But if you are constantly worrying about getting into fights, or put yourself in situations where you get shoved, then I applaud you for not carrying a firearm.

MACS... I'm talking about scenarios which happened... I live in the city. The woman has been shoved and hit by homeless people just walking on the street (I was not present during these). I go to bars... I was drinking with people who do randomly start hitting each other just a couple months ago. Usually they do it in good fun... But sometimes it goes bad (the idiots literally knocked a tooth out in good fun once). Sometimes these things get a little violent. Not a lot violent, just a little... Seems to me that having a firearm would limit your options to either staying out of it, or escalating it. That's a limit.

David, I agree with you 100% about the purpose of firearms.

My entire point (it isn't a huge point, I don't know why people are arguing it) is that if you are armed you are responsible for choosing to drop issues like that and walk away, and in my life those sorts of issues pop up way more often than "imminent threat to my life".
