I spent two days with victor...never felt threatened, never thought I needed a gun...alcohol, cigars and some cannabis was involved...as were many sharp objects...my conclusion is that he is an amiable and thoughtful guy with intelligence and humor...

My dog just came in the back door carrying a big stick....she put it down next to the 3 rocks she brought in earlier...I think she's going to build herself a house 😰

If this is the case for you, then you're smart not to carry. In all honesty, when I did carry (my ccw expired and I have yet to renew) it made me more careful and less reckless. As I get older I realize it just isn't worth it... and if I do anything stupid I could lose my job.

I've been getting that exact point as a big part of what Victor means...can't do anything gun-stoopid if he's not carrying. Adds a whole nutha level of legal problems to an altercation.

and requires one to be more thoughtful and considered about one's surroundings and the people in them...prolly not a good idea in a very diverse location where you are not familiar with everyone there. and alcohol, close proximity, and exuberance are part of the equation...

I don’t carry often because of my lifestyle. You can’t carry if you consume any amount of alcohol.

Yesterday I grabbed a sandwich at a local establishment and had two beers. If I was carrying I could not have.

I have a safe in my car. I could have put a gun in there but it’s still not legal. Zero alcohol.

My guess is some ignore that. That’s a huge risk I’m not ready to take. A simple fender bender becomes a huge ordeal. A simple non alcohol related mistake can become gun charges. Or at least a very expensive legal journey.

That’s not to mention legitimately pulling your gun with one beer in you. Good luck with that.

I’ve was carrying last Halloween when I took my daughter to a trick or treat neighborhood party. Was offered a great scotch. Had to pass it up. One would not have hurt me but it’s not worth the risk.

My guess is some in here choose the perceived risk of a bad guy over the risk of getting caught drinking however so little because they don’t get drunk. I don’t. I never needed a gun against a bad guy yet. I’ve drank small amounts here and there socially my entire adult life.

If you drink one drop your gun should be nowhere near you. I choose to not be that limited and not take that risk. It’s not about .08. It’s about .0000000001. Too many anti gun zealots to rely on good common sense.

I’ll be carrying this afternoon on the trail. I won’t this evening when I go in to town.

I have nothing against gun ownership, I own several myself, but comparing carrying a loaded firearm to having insurance, or wearing a seat belt sounds pretty ludicrous to me. Only one of these things is a deadly weapon with the express purpose of harming/killing.

Also no matter how careful or responsible one is, there is always the chance (however unlikely) of accidents, or someone managing to get their hands on your gun, etc.

Just saying... not trying to start anything 😜
