Any union workers here?

Curious how many will be dropping out of their union now that workers rights have been improved by this historic decision. (Sarcasm from me) I wont add my 2 cents or get in a debate with anyone but I'm curious to see what people have to say.

I'm not nor ever have been in a union but I am against any organization using dues for any cause that is not authorized by the members be it religion, trade union or whatever. If it's voluntary thats a different story.

I have been and never will be again if I can help it.

It was a great decision too. Taking money away from people so they can put it in politicians pockets should be a crime!

I support unions right to exist, but not for public employees.

I do not support the way unions have behaved politically, or igored many members (I have family that are). This was an obvious decision and should have been 9-0

I've worked on both sides of food manufacturing unions... they're a rip off to the workers and an unnecessary roadblock to productivity... they protect the lazy and punish the hard worker.... they remove any and all motivation for personal improvement... and quite frankly, unions are the number one reason why 9 out of 10 teachers could be instantly replaced with YouTube videos...

I've been a member of the U.A.W., my father was a Teamster, and my brother was a member of the Tilesetters Union....I cannot agree more with your statements above...
When I was new to the union I used to get reprimanded because I was doing to much work, and it was making my dayshift worker look bad....I finally got it, "If you have any kind of work ethic, unions are not the place to use it"...If you can make your daily quota 2-3 hours into your shift, you should pack it up and hide for the rest of your shift, because any more production from you makes the rest of the slackers look bad, and your union reps wiil be around shortly to let you know about it#-o

Oh man, you just reminded me of the worst union shop i ever worked at, Mission Bell Winery... i was contracted so i wasn't union but did union work with union workers...

They had a setup for taking micro samples of wine that utilized a segment of steel tube and a vacuum... basically, they'd allowed the tubing to become so caked with wine they were only running 3 samples an hour...

I spent an hour cleaning the thing and increased productivity 3-4 fold... they hated me...

I'm in a union. A decent one, now.

The union I was in (before my promotion to sgt) SUCKED balls. They took way too much money from us, didn't get an agreement with the county, so we got f***ed... and our medical costs are way too frickin' high for the number of people we bring to the table.

The LEMU (law enf mgmt union) made concessions to the county, and we came to an agreement. No cuts, but no raises and some other things not beneficial to us, but will help the county save $$. I'm not happy, but it could have been worse.

AGREED!! I have a subordinate right now who should have been fired a long damn time ago. He's in a lawsuit with the county right now. He claims a work related injury (bs) but he's good to go to the gym and work out all the time.

Scamming POS.

We've had teachers here in Oregon get busted for sex crimes, and still paid until all appeals run through. They go sit in an empty classroom on their phones for 8 hours.

Not a Union Member, but semi-retired self employed contractor. About 20 years ago, my BIL said he could get me a "handyman" union position at Temple University. He handed me about 50 pages of "regulations" for the job. I could replace up to 3' of trim, paint up to 4 sq. ft. of wall, replace up to 3 floor tiles, replace up to 2 ceiling tiles, plunge a toilet but not fish it, replace up to 2 light bulbs per apartment, etc. It went on and on. So I asked him what I was to do it I had to replace 3' 1" of trim. He told me I'd have to call in a carpenter as if I replaced it myself, I'd be "stealing work" from the other trades.

Then there was a list of acceptable tools. I would be permitted to only have a 16 oz. claw hammer, even though I've swung a 20 oz. framing hammer my whole life, even for trim work. Every single tool I could use was detailed, even to lengths and blade sizes of screw drivers. One of the ironic things I pointed out to him, was that my American made battery saw was against the rules. I'd have to go out an purchase a Japanese made one. Way too much BS for me.

It is called due process. Seems like you need a faster appeal process to get rid of them sooner.

Not in a union, I was in the Armstrong floor tile union for four summers on swing shift, you could literally bust your azz 8 hours straight lifting 80lbs of tile every 15-20 seconds loading skids ALL 8 HOURS or work "the sweep crew" & go hide every other hour and sleep in hidden rooms half the day ( the difference in pay was .15 an hour from the tile line To sweep crew)

Go to a NYC JAVETS? CENTER TRADE SHOW and try and setup your booth....

You'd think that :
A. You had just become an invalid with no brain.
B. At the loading dock...the clip board union goons bark out rules and regulations about what you can and can't do.
C. Need electricity at your booth? Good luck and 5 hours later no electric, your home cords arent code but you can rent theirs for $100 clams a day with a $100 deposit, you can't plug it in either, your power strips aren't code , but you can rent theirs for $100 a day with $100 deposit...your booth screen isnt up to fire code, can't use it, the signage you have isnt fireproof, can't use it...you can't assemble your booth , only union guys can, you can't disassemble your booth, only union guys can, your rug isn't fireproof, can't use it, rent one of theirs....
