I was wandering around on the deck today with the Macro lens and took this. The downsized (under 100k) picture for this site looses a lot of detail, but you can still probably see it ok.

Reply to MACS(SW) .
Yes ,I believe it is , Pretty creature , but very devestating to certain plants and fruit trees.
In Calif, we don't get this kind we get the bright green iridessent June Beetles. So far I have not seen them yet just a bunch of brown creepy June bugs (Not to be confused with the Green June Beetle).

Glad you all liked it. These really do destroy plants, so shortly after the pictures this one was flicked as far away from the plants as I could get it (sorry, no action shots).

Thanks Slimboli. I really appreciate it, but I attribute about 99% to the camera!

Oh, and no RDC, you probably can NOT get this camera and/or lens for about $200. Multiply that by at least 7 and you'll be in the ballpark! Unless you hit one huge sale one day.

The Canon Rebel XT and 350D are the same thing, just two different names.

If anyone's interested in this camera I'd highly recommend it. I've had it for about four months now and have taken close to 6000 pictures with it, I like it a lot.

428cj --- I found one site that sells the 'body' only for just a little over $400 ... most of the other places I looded at sell them for $700 and up, just for the body.

Man ... looking at your pics, and reading up on it ... I'm very tempted.

Does this camera use the same lenses as a 35mm SLR? Cause I have a ton of money in my SLR lenses.

Yes, this is a DSLR, so it uses all the regular 35mm lenses. I know it at least uses Canon AF lenses, can't comment on other brands.

Slimboli, be careful of the sites that have them for about 1/2 price. I read on several of my photo forums that they're pretty bad places. The two major ones are B&H Photo and Adorama, these two get good marks from others. I'm sure there are more out there, but these are the only two I know of.

If you do get one it takes a lot to learn how to use, at least use well. I hadn't used a 35mm SLR in many years and this one took me quite a while to learn. The digital point and shoots are MUCH easier to use, but as I've learned don't come anywhere close to the same pic quality. I was surprised really how much effort it took to learn how to use this, I wasn't prepared for it (as numerous others weren't, based on the photo forums!). Fun to learn/use though. I'm still well into my learning process too!

I've got 4 or 5 Canon FD lenses that I have for my Canon A-1 (1978) SLR camera ...

... and I just found out that the Canon 350D cannot use them. That really sucks ... as I've got the 100/300 Zoom, the 100mm 1.4 Macro, and various others.

I'm really pissed ... freakin' EF mount !!!
