the cons have been conned CelticBomber...at some point, a few of them may actually realize the absurdity that is Trump and how he does not comport with their former ideological underpinnings: Consitutional Rule of Law, Family Values...

good to see you...

Al, Trump is a relatively popular president. He does or attempts to do what a large amount of his constituents want. I don't really think conservatives have been conned by him. They find his actions at a minimum acceptable, at a maximum perfect. On the other hand liberals find his actions at a minimum unacceptable, at a maximum pure evil. I think on both sides most people fall somewhere in the middle. That there no longer is a middle for compromise is a social commentary about us.

it took some time for members of the GOP to realize that Nixon had gone off the rails...among their final realizations was Nixon's sheer abuse of power...many staunch supporters of Nixon's believed, and still believe, he was a good POTUS, but enough of them opened their eyes...

Trump's approval/popularity is only among the solid GOP and has hovered around 40% of all voters and 85% of the GOP, those who support him regardless of the number of out-right lies that he spews.....he has not gained much support from independents who seem to be wise to his fact challenged/outright false proclamations...

these same people mocked Obama, a Constitutional lawyer who had some understanding of where the lines were, for wanting to be King....and don't see that Trump, who doesn't seem to have read one line of the Constitution, has advanced much father down the stream of monarchical tendencies...

Al, I think the election will come down to the independents. Republicans will carry roughly 40% of the vote for Trump. Democrats will carry roughly 40% of the vote for the Democratic nominee. Last election Trump rode the anyone but Hillary wave. I think in the next election there will be an anyone but Trump wave. Also some independents such as I voted 3rd party. I think most of that group including myself will vote Democrat, no matter who the nominee is. It is to important to remove Trump to waste a vote on principal.

redo libel laws so when people lie about us, we'll sue the crap out of them
