The wife and I (mostly me) have been looking for a year for an adoptable female Husky to join our aging pack of two. Both of our Huskies, are rescues and both are approximately 12 years old.

Back in Apr we adopted a 5-6 year old female out of NOLA. Unfortunately, she was not a good fit, and in addition, the rescue misrepresented her qualities or lack thereof. After four weeks we had to return her to the rescue.

Fast forward to July. We found a great four year old female prospect in Tuscaloosa, just 235 miles away. Things progressed and we brought her home two and a half weeks ago for a test drive. We notified the rescue this past Fri that we would be keeping her.

And here’s Leia.

She kinda has a “Don’t mess with me” look...but I’m sure she’s a princess.

She is really a great dog. An exchange student had her for two and a half years and did not or could not take her with him after finishing his studies. From there she went to a rescue and was adopted by a guy that gave her up after four months due to taking a job overseas. Back to rescue she went until we came along and gave her a home.

For a Husky she is somewhat docile.which is kind of scary. I am waiting for the other shoe to drop and that inner Husky demon to make its appearance. So far a no show. Nothing she may do in the future will be surprising. After all she is a Husky.

So you drive all the way up here into my backyard and don't stop in for a smoke and a drink? We certainly could have checked her out at the rescue for you-

I know I have not been around recently. My bad.

Looks like a great addition to the family.

Wow! Look who decided to come in from the lake. Not to long ago the Tripod, aka Frank, was inquiring if anyone had heard from you. I'm sure he and others will be happy that you are above ground.

As far as being in T-town, I did a one day, round trip when I came up to check her out. The day I brought her home, I was returning from north AL and was just passing through.

I do have to be in T-town for a couple of days in the next couple of months and maybe we can meet up and share a few pours of good whisky and ash a couple of Cubans.

I will let you know when I'm headed that way.

Sorry it has been so long. Work promotion brought on much more responsibility. Glad they upped the ante as well. When your travels bring you near, it would be an honor and my privilege to share a wee dram and a cigar with you. Perhaps we can check out the lake if the weather permits. Just say when.
