Got these ROTT and did a quick random humidity test. The left is a cello wrapped pack and the right one came out of a zip seal bag. The left reads 57 and the right reads 58. So yeah def needs some rest time to get back up to 65+ relative humidity.

I'll post a few more random tests here as I get them.

Yeah, cigars through the mail and generally any transport have a rough life. I was tempted by these when I first saw them reviewed by Tim but I just think about how many more cigars I can buy with that money and never get one.

The amount I spend on sticks makes the meter cost negligible lol

I usually have an allowance for cigars but I overspent this month. A different site had a good deal on AJ Fernandez Montecristos which is the first full body that taught me I love full body and I had to pull the trigger.

I hate to break it to you. But a $30 Hygrometer is not going to give you very accurate RH readings. You're in the stadium at best. Also, don't sweat a few % RH. If the cigar smokes well to you then it's properly "hydrated". The whole 70/70 thing is just a set of numbers pulled out of someone's A-hole.

Yup.

I don't use hygrometers anymore. 65% beads and Bovedas, and don't smoke anything till it's been sitting in there for a good long while. It's worked out well for several years.

It's actually pretty accurate. I've pulled several sticks that have been sitting for months with 69% boveda and every one of them read 68-69%

You probably don't want to but if they are easy to take apart (and put back together) you could look up the chips they are using to see the tolerance on them. I imagine it is +/- 2% though.

When I first started, I spent too much time worrying about the hygrometer accuracy so once I ā€œset myself freeā€, it was liberating.

After many years I have found cigars kept between 58-63% age as well as those kept at 70% but have less chance of mold issues and smoke waaaaaay better straight out the humi.
