awesome! HA! I am delighted.
I knew you'd cave...who doesn't like fried pudadas and onions?

due to circumstances I wish I could control, we have several packages of those exact TJ's latkes in the freezer waiting for the Family gathering Sunday afternoon.
I can't explain why this year is worse than last, but I just can't make them this time.
Not the end of a tradition, just a respite?
It's a loss of energy thing, that's the best way to explain it.

But we do have a lot of home made apple sauce, one of The Lovely Caren's talents. I'll buy some sour cream too. And we'll have some joy eating one of the unhealthiest things in the history of gastronomy.

Chappy Chanukah Adam.

I had a rabbi who once said that he was going to expel me from Judaism because I don’t like latkes, lox, cream cheese, or gefilte fish 🤷🏻‍♂️

I like my latkes way too much to use that pre-made, store-bought crap. Shame on you!

3 cups shredded potato
2 eggs
1 medium onion

Use some matzo meal to absorb some of the excess moisture from having shredded the potatoes. Mix it right in a couple of tablespoons as needed. Salt and pepper to taste before frying 1/2 inch of vegetable oil.

I do not believe I have had these but based on what they are made of I imagine I would enjoy them. Also, I am going to have to agree with rfenst after looking these up on wikipedia. The picture they have for these makes those frozen ones look nasty.

Oh I love Latke's. Applesauce and all. I had a damned good friend in the Navy that took me home with him to visit his family in DC over the holidays. The dumb ass flyover country Catholic kid learned some new stuff. [LOL]

What a great time, his family was amazing and made me right at home. That was probably the real start of my "experiencing" cultures as I traveled. If you want to know folks, sit down and break bread with them. Regardless of how they make it.

That cuts right to the heart of everything. Most would probably get along better if they would do so!

I hope all are having a good holiday, regardless of how you celebrate it, or what you call it.

Sincerely.

I've been making them by hand for years, simple old recipe, typically make 60 to 75 of them.

Set up at the end of the garage with an electric skillet, a cigar or two, a beer or two, some brown paper bags...

just can't do it this time Robert.

Love chicken livers, turkey too....my Mom used to make a fried chicken liver thing every now and then, her and I were the only ones that would eat it...delicious, but I haven't had it(or chicken livers at all), since Mom passed. I may have to put it on my list of things to do...=p~

chopped liver is nothing like a broiled piece of liver, really like a pate.
But there used to be a couple of places in da ghetto (Freddie Parkers) that made fried chicken livers...they were amazing.
