I mean, most doctors go through the same MD school and then either go into general practice or a specialty, right?

Epidemiologists study Incidence, Prevalence and Mortality, and then overlay other data bits, depending on what they are attempting to predict/project or analyze after the fact.

Etiologists study causation, etc.

When you have GOOD data for both, you can implement fairly effective containment, and ultimately treatment and prevention measures.

If you’re missing one piece, your kinda fuqed a little.
