I’ve noticed when they report the number of cases and deaths, they never report how many have recovered.

NOBODY recovers! We are all dead. Game over.

wonder if Robert would like to travel to New York end of February/beginning of March before they started social distancing there, or attended Mardi Gras, or spring break in Miami...

there are places where the numbers are miniscule...they can relax the social distancing...but what about larger cities with more cases?

Oh I’m with you on not freaking out. And some of the actions taken have gone too far. That’s absolutely a legitimate debate.

I’m primarily responding to undercount verses over count. That’s the part that’s not really debatable to anyone involved in it.

And I liked the stand the first time. Tried to watch it again recently but didn’t have the patience.

You mentioned earlier that the actual deaths count regarding Covid-19 may be an over count. I'm guessing bc they aren't factoring in pre-existing conditions, age, obesity etc. That's a red flag right there for me. How do we know what actually killed them? You could have Covid 19 and die in a car wreck, or of heart attack. Is Covid 19 being listed as cause of death just because the person had it in their system??

Also, We've seen Cheno's and Gunny's post about how insane CDC and governmental guidelines have become. A 25 point list over in general discussion. Another red flag for me...

So I guess my main over/under Covid 19 positive count question is, how does anyone know the accuracy of the test? This is a new common cold so how can we be so sure? I have read that the test is inaccurate, with a lot of false positives. You work in the industry, how can you be sure that the tests are acceptable? The projected death models haven't been... That and all of the above info leads me to question the validity of the test.

I wouldnt go to NYC in the best of times, certainly not the worst. My sister and brother in law lived in the Bronx for 3 years and I wouldn't go. I really don't like to go anywhere that sh*ts on the 2nd ammendment. In fact I dont like cities at all, but I see what you are getting at.

I really dont think I'd freak out. Ive had really bad cases of the flu, it's just a part of life. I relatively young compared to a lot of guys on here, healthy etc.

I would NOT do anything that I felt was truly dangerous, but I dont think I'd let it completely stop me from what I was doing. I certainly wouldn't stay home and hide under the covers until the government told me I was safe. Imo each individual must make that determination for themselves.

Dont worry about the easing of restrictions in rural America, I dont think peole in fly over country listened from day one. Once they heard Trump call it a hoax that was it.

I at least gave it a little time. Lol

I just enjoy your brand of right side vision cuz it's not like so many others regurgitating Rush and worse.
And you're not a lock to be far right either, depending on the issue.

But you always seem to get perplexed with our shenanigans and don't want to play, then you leave, so I saw an opening to fix you up on a date with tw who knows stuff...and he's hung like a light switch, in the off position.

No I did not. Multiple times I have said:

The actual number of cases and number of deaths are undercounted. They just are.

The death RATE is likely overstated but nothing like the deniers are trying to claim. It’s still way more deadly than the flu and the damage done if you live is wicked for a decent percentage of people. It’s not the flu.

You don’t seem to understand the basics, and you don’t want to.

Are you really questioning if a car wreck is counted as a covid death? If so you really don’t get it and are to be discounted on the subject.

I’m sorry man your whole post is way out there. New common cold? This is not a common cold or flu. Dumb.

And yea I don’t really understand why someone can fish in a kayak but not a motorboat in Michigan. Those things are definitely debatable.

Yeah? What does Novel-Corona Virus mean then? Novel=new, and isn't the common cold a corona virus?

Either way my question was this: How do we know that the test is accurate? Does every doctor in the country agree on the validity of a test that was rushed to be manufactured?

You're right, I really dont know. And up until I do I'm not going to blindly believe everything the government and the medical community tell me.
RobertHively

Also, you have called me dumb multiple times tonight but you have yet to share any of your esoteric knowledge with us. What's up with that? That's how you get people to understand??

Hey what about this test? How do we know? Does every doctor agree? Do the majority of doctors agree? "You're a dumbass". Ok. Well at this point you seem like the dumbass to me.

I blame Frank.

Robert you may not be dumb but your knowledge is terribly lacking on this subject, and it appears you don’t want to learn. You are all over the place. On this topic you are dumb and dangerous if anyone listens to you. Hopefully they won’t.

Some in here know some of my background but I’m not going to lay it out here. My education, past experience, and current activities give me a pretty good view of this. It’s not coming from tv or the internet. I particularly know a lot about the reporting nationally and specifically what is happening in NY. Not from the press.

I will usually be more gentle and try to educate when I know something for sure and debate and respect opinions when that is the case. But when someone is so far off fact based reality but insist they are not, and are disinterested in the truth it’s not worth the time.

It’s not my style to call folks dumb. In all my years here I don’t remember doing so in a serious way. But you are way out there on this and I fear more will start believing that brand of stupidity.

This is not like the flu or common cold for a lot of reasons
RobertHively

Nah I've had all the "education" I need from you.

If you need to sue to get your money back for that degree they sold you, I got that, or at least I know a guy.

Lol. Ok.

I sincerely apologize if I hurt your feelings. As I said I normally don’t take this approach and usually don’t call folks dumb. I won’t say never.

So maybe I should have taken another approach but this is too important to let such uneducated (not talking academics, talking disinformation) nonsense stand. I am quite sure you know some subjects way better than I do. This is not one of them.

A common cold

I think even in the Wild West days of cbid the only time I came close to calling someone dumb was jimmyct when he insisted Obama wasn’t born here and he had proof. I hated Obama too but it was just so stupid. In fairness to him he was the first I saw seriously saying that before it became the rage.

I don’t think I ever called him dumb (it’s a pet peeve of mine to take a higher road and indeed it’s a lazy approach) but it taught me things that are so off they can’t be taken seriously are sometimes contagious and people will. sometimes polite doesn’t work. In that instance I didn’t have more or less information than he did. In this one I do.

If you really knew anything about it you would have answered my questions hours ago, and I cant help what they named it.

But I'm sure you're really important in your field. That's what is scary. You cant even answer simple questions and you're an expert! Lol! You should go work for Trump.

2 million will die! says Fauci.
