1. Can cigars be smoked upon arrival from Cigarbid or should they be placed in humidor for awhile.

2. I'm going away for 4 months. How do I best care for my cigars before I leave and upon arrival home?

1. Placed in a humidor for awhile is typically the preferred way.

2. How many cigars? In general, I would buy a bunch of the largest Boveda packs - 320 grams and no more than 69% - and stick them into your humidor. Minimally double or even triple the recommended amount for the number of cigars you have.

I put all my long term smokes in a plastic tote with a tight seal lid and a couple pounds of crystal unscented kitty litter aka silica crystals. You just spray a bit of distilled water on the crystals until you get around 67-69% humidity. I have a bunch of cedar trays to stack inside and then it goes into the farthest NE corner of the house away from heat and sunlight with modest AC in season and heat in the other seasons. I'm able to keep it around 65° to 72° year round. It's worked great since 2007.

Anyone know definitively if this is the same substance as you-know-what-brand beads, but without the ludicrous markup? I suspect it is.

If so, what a great business, at least as long as word doesn't get out how to circumvent you and your giant markup. Buy that certain kind of litter in bulk, then repackage it in small bags with your own logo, and mark it up to the moon, hoping nobody finds out that it's just cheap unscented silica kitty litter.
