Bigger ring gauges more often then not are filled with more flavorless (i.e., worthless) tobacco that is just good enough to not effect the taste of the better leaves that make up the meat of the blend. They generally burn effortlessly, which means they won't frustrate the noobs, and don't require highly trained rollers (i.e., low-cost rollers..sense a pattern?), so you can guess why they've caught on. Technically, a big ring gauge SHOULD be an opportunity, but the vast majority of the time the better examples of a blend exist lower down the sizing chart.

That's just MHO, but from my own experience it bares out.

Ron isn't saying two chicken wings have more meat than a drumstick. He's saying the ratio of skin to meat is higher in the wing. Which is why buffalo wings are a thing, but buffalo drumsticks aren't.

Try some smaller gauges when you get the chance. They really do have a flavor edge. I read a long time ago someone talking about which cigar size is best for n00bs and saying "A corona is a good place to start. It's a good place to stay."
