I’m an idiot. Been playing my own game in planning for retirement. Late in the game but I know my limits. What questions would you ask a person who you would bev owning your financial future?

How do you make money and how do you make me money?

I had poor luck with picking but found an excellent one by asking a friend that mentioned he was happy with his.

Study the field of investments first, so you know what you are hearing in advance. Set goals and then be patient and ruthless in your pursuit.

At all cost don't get emotional!!!

Since you can buy a DOW or S&P fund for free, ask them if they will waive their fees for any year that they don't beat those.

You seem like a fart smeller, why not manage your own? Open an online IRA or brokerage account with a place like Fidelity, Schwab, AmeriTrade (recently bought out by Schwab), Merrill. They have free trades and no commission for most of the stuff.

There are plenty of pre-assembled, pre-mixed mutual funds and ETFs to fit all different types of portfolios and investment plans. Plus if you have instant access to your online account you can trade willy nilly.

See.. when you're doing it online with your phone, tablet, or computer it's not even like real money. It's more like a video game.
