seems some media sources want to blame everything on the Dems and Pelosi and Biden...both Dems and GOP were outraged when this was brought to light...

one Guardsman tweeted the Biden administration made the decision, which wasn't true...

the commander of the National Guard said that he and the Capitol Police agreed to move their "rest area" to the parking garage after the buildings were re-opened for business...hotel rooms are available for the Guard, but mostly go unused because of the distance and time needed to go there given the short turn arounds for on duty and off duty hours...and the regular breaks scheduled during a shift

seems that some large gathering areas/conference rooms/visitors centers inside the buildings have been reserved as rest areas to accommodate them...the numbers of soldiers assigned to protect the Capitol has been reduced...and will be 7,000 until end of month

Late December

The New York Police Department sends a packet of material to the U.S. Capitol Police and the Washington Field Office of the FBI. This raw intelligence — bits and pieces of information scraped from various social media sites — indicates that there will likely be violence when lawmakers certify the presidential election results on Jan. 6.

But the DHS and the FBI do not create an intelligence report focused specifically on the upcoming pro-Trump rally. That's important because these reports go beyond raw intelligence — they validate information and put it into context that would help local law enforcement develop a plan. These threat assessments or intelligence bulletins are typically written as a matter of course ahead of high-profile events. It's not clear why this didn't happen.

Monday, Jan. 4

The Metropolitan Police Department arrests Enrique Tarrio, leader of the far-right Proud Boys group. He is charged with destruction of property and possession of high-capacity firearm magazines. He's released the next day and told to leave Washington.

The police had noted that D.C. law prohibits anyone from carrying a firearm within 1,000 feet of any First Amendment activity.

U.S. Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund asks permission from House and Senate security officials to request that the D.C. National Guard be placed on standby in case the protest gets out of control. The Washington Post reports: "House Sergeant at Arms Paul Irving said he wasn't comfortable with the 'optics' of formally declaring an emergency ahead of the demonstration, Sund said. Meanwhile, Senate Sergeant at Arms Michael Stenger suggested that Sund should informally seek out his Guard contacts, asking them to 'lean forward' and be on alert in case Capitol Police needed their help."

Imagine dropping everything in your life and sent to swamp city to only find out the Dems wanted to use you as a photo-op, and then cast you aside to a parking garage.
They should leave the barbed wire and stuff up all year round, it's fitting decor for the new administration.

I saw that article and see that you didn't read it thoroughly.... I actually used that piece...here's the relevant part I mentioned in my post, that you didn't take the time to read...

"The National Guard continues to assist and support the U.S. Capitol Police. As Congress is in session and increased foot traffic and business is being conducted, Capitol Police asked the troops to move their rest area. They were temporarily relocated to the Thurgood Marshall Judicial Center garage with heat and restroom facilities. We remain an agile and flexible force to provide for the safety and security of the Capitol and its surrounding areas," the National Guard Bureau said in a statement."

one guardsman, who obviously didn't like the decision, and may not have known how the decision was made, was quoted near the beginning of the article, and said this is how the Biden Administration treats us...

Try again...

I saw that article and see that you didn't read it thoroughly.... I actually used that piece...here's the relevant part I mentioned in my post, that you didn't take the time to read...but I was too damned lazy or stupid to know how to cut and paste the link so anyone else could read the information for themselves. I continually rely on others to do the heavy lifting so I can parrot partyline propaganda and make fun of Trump because I want to make sergeant in the Pink Pu$$ Hat Brigade.

Spey, I know it wasn't right to put the National Guard in the parking garage for rest breaks...even Biden himself denounced it and said it would be taken care of...

https://www.military.com/daily-news/2021/01/22/biden-calls-national-guard-chief-after-troops-briefly-ordered-take-breaks-garage.html

it just seemed irresponsible, and politically calculated for some cons to pick out that item and run with it as an anti-Biden bash.... blaming it on the Biden Administration based on one National Guardsman's opinion about why they ended up in the parking garage is just an example of how the facts don't matter to some folks when a political point is to be made: see...lookit that...Biden hates the US Military!!!

do those folks know his son served in the National Guard? and that Jill Biden visited the troops and brought them cookies while thanking them? facts...don't matter...

it's the same old same old, like the "Presidentin Be Hard" thread that was a daily reminder of how the cons here despised Obama and made up all kinds of stuff to give themselves a safe and warm fuzzy space to commiserate in and share how tough life was under a lib President...

I looked in occasionally, and laughed, but also thought: sad pity party
