As for covid it's not my belief. I know what I know. Stuff on the fringes is very debatable, but at the core not so much. Unfortunately it comes down to folks trying to deny facts to support their preformed opinion. It makes folks that know the facts weary to keep fighting against that. I'm sort of done playing that game, it gives validity to something not even remotely valid.

Macs only saw what he wanted to see and his chosen information sources were willing to give him that. I am in a very different position on this subject.

Wasn't it the experts that told us that all we had to do was to follow all their mandates and this would all blow over in a few weeks... months... until a vaccine is concocted? It was even said that it's behavior is so predictable it's almost vanilla.

Yet here we are, still under restrictive mandates and if anyone questions it, they are chastised (see the posts above and to follow).

We're told that the vaccine is nothing new. They've been working on it for years with SARS or whatever. All they needed to do was to tweak it a bit for COVID. If a new strain pops up, they can dial it in within a couple months.

The marching drumbeat now is that the vaccine is the fix so everything can be alright in the world. You'll be immune after a couple shots. If you don't believe that this is the prevailing sentiment with the general public then you need to get out of your bubble. If that wasn't/isn't the message that the "experts" were/are touting then where did the general public get this idea?

I know, it's too complicated for little minded lemmings to understand. Only experts do. The masses should just get in line with what the "experts" tell us without question. Even though the tune changes, the song remains the same.

That was a political talking point before the election. (ie the pandemic would disappear after the election and it is a dem farce). News flash. We are NOT close to done. This is a global pandemic although it is worse in the US than many other places unfortunately.

I've never viewed this as political as most folks in here do. I'm just immersed in it every day all day trying to make it better.

I don't disagree with what he says about my covid stance, either. Initially, I was all over the place trying to keep up (as he said) and then I was just like... fuggit... IDGAS (also like he said). Firmly entrenched in the IDGAS corner at this point.

Freedom > Safety IMO. YMMV and you should be free to exercise your rights to quarantine, or wear a mask, or get a vaccine if you want to... as I should be free to ignore all those things if I want to.

I read about it and experts had warned us of these days since the previous infections China and the Middle East shared with the world.

I did and do struggle with the (over)reaction, AKA controls and much, much worse, the politicalization of the issue. There are no innocents in the politicalization, both Trump haters and supporters, poisoned the well. Aided and abided by anti vaccine nutters and freedom fanatics. This is the USA and we enjoy freedoms other countries dream about. We don't give them up easily.

And got me looking at N95 masks, but did not see the need.

The teacher's union up here pushed to get educators to the front of the line (after the 75+ geezers) for the vaccine. Claim they're "essential" workers.

Now, I don't disagree with that sentiment. But it seems to me that TRUE essential workers would have been back at work in September. But that very same union fought AGAINST it.
