I have a double blade cutter. It sometimes squishes my smokes before cutting them. Not too cool. Anyway to sharpen it? It's a pretty one and I would like to keep it around if possible. If not, I may float test it in the Mississippi.

Ouch, Is there any way for it to be taken apart? (screws) How old is it? If you actually wanted to sharpen it you could try to use a small whet rock. If it didn't cost a lot I would trash it just cause it smushed my cigar.

or bid on the Swiss Army Cutters.I picked up a deluxe SAK here for $19. I still like my Xikar Xi2 better then the SAK(others like he SAK) but for $19-20? you can't go wrong.

Unless you paid a great deal of money for it ... toss it in your drawer with all the other things you can't seem to throw away.

Most high end cutters have a guarantee, and will usually sharpen them or replace them if you send them back (like Xikar) ...

... if it's a cheapie that you really like, get another!

I have both a Xikar and a Swiss Army Knife. For me the SAK gets the edge, perfect cut every time. You can often pick one up for a ridiculously low price here, whereas the Xikars often go for near retail.

Oh ... I don't know about that. I've picked up one for $19 and several for gifts at $29.

Retail at CI is $49 ... but right now in their September catalog, they are selling them at $29 each, or 2 for $49.

At $25 each, that's pretty close to what you will pay for the SAK.

Palio all the way!

I've had my Prometheus cutter (won here) and it still cuts as well as it did over a year ago.

Rookie is right though ... out of all the cutters I've ever used, the Palio has the cleanest cut ... hands down. I use mine on 'special' occasions.

Many cigar bars use these as their house cutters ... and one that I know of, is still going strong after (what they claimed to be) 3,000 cuts.

Bull, why not just bite the damn thing off and spit it on the floor? (A little more Red Neck than the nail punch) I prefer the Xikar!

Thanks for the advice. I tossed it! Time to buy a new one. I like a punch too. Some cigars demand a cutter though. It's like the stock market. Diversification is best.

Palio is also the best choice if you're looking for a punch cutter ... their unit that is a combination of a typical sized hole puncher plus an oversized or extra large punch is by far the best on the market.

My best cutter came with my Havana Pocket Humidor. Its a plastic 3 cigar case. The guillotine attaches on the back. Its only single blade, but has never sqished a cigar once. 1 problem with it. Won't cut anything bigger than a 50 guage. Cleanest damn cuts I've ever seen.

You just wanna use one one of Slims cigar shaped parts.

Three years ago I paid $50 for a Zino shelf sharpening guillotine cutter and today it is still as razor sharp as when I bought it, and always provides a clean cut. If not a Zino, invest in a shelf sharpening cutter, as long as you don't lose it, it will last forever.
