Christians have their hymns and pages,
Hava Nagila's for the Jews,
Baptists have the rock of ages,
Atheists just sing the blues.

Romantics play Claire de Lune,
Born agains sing "He is risen, "
But no one ever wrote a tune,
For godless existentialism.

For Atheists there's no good news. They'll never sing a song of faith.
In their songs they have a rule: the "he" is always lowercase.
The "he" is always lowercase.

Some folks sing a Bach cantata,
Lutherans get Christmas trees,
Atheist songs add up to nada,
But they do have Sundays free.

Pentecostals sing to heaven,
Coptics have the books of scrolls,
Numerologists can count to seven,
Atheists have rock and roll.

For Atheists there's no good news. They'll never sing a song of faith.
In their songs they have a rule: the "he" is always lowercase.
The "he" is always lowercase.

Atheists don't have no songs.

Christians have their hymns and pages,
Hava Nagila's for the Jews,
Baptists have the rock of ages,
Atheists just sing the blues.

Catholics dress up for Mass,
And listen to, Gregorian chants.
Atheists just take a pass, Watch football in their underpants.
Watch football in their underpants.

Atheists don't have no songs.

What about Plastic Jesus

He was Obama, the messiah that came to earth to make us all socialists they use to say.
Like the Newsweek cover headline said in 2009 — “We Are All Socialists Now”
Of course, they were just worshipping a golden calf in an empty suit.

I don't care if it rains or freezes
Long as I got my plastic Jesus
Sitting on the dashboard of my car

Comes in colors, pink and pleasant
Glows in the dark, it's iridescent
Take it with you when you travel far

Get yourself a sweet Madonna
Dressed in rhinestone, settin' on a
Pedestal of Abalone Shells
Going 90, I ain't scared
Because I got the Virgin Mary
Assuring me that I won't go to hell

Some one once said to me "you praise God too much. Why do you always feel the need to praise God?"
I said, Practicing for heaven. You oughta start screaming in agony.
We laughed.
He was soon baptized. True story.

Reach out, touch faith
Your own personal Jesus
Someone to hear your prayers
Someone who cares
Your own personal Jesus
Someone to hear your prayers
Someone who's there
Feeling unknown
And you're all alone
Flesh and bone
By the telephone
Lift up the receiver
I'll make you a believer
Take second best
Put me to the test
Things on your chest
You need to confess
I will deliver
You know I'm a forgiver
Reach out, touch faith
Reach out, touch faith

Oh life is bigger
It's bigger than you
And you are not me
The lengths that I will go to
The distance in your eyes
Oh no I've said too much
I set it up
That's me in the corner
That's me in the spot-light
Losing my religion
Trying to keep up with you
And I don't know if I can do it
Oh no I've said too much
I haven't said enough
I thought that I heard you laughing
I thought that I heard you sing
I think I thought I saw you try
Every whisper, of every waking hour
I'm choosing my confessions
Trying to keep an eye on you
Like a hurt, lost and blinded fool, fool
Oh no I've said too much
I set it up
Consider this
Consider this the hint of the century
Consider this the slip
That brought me to my knees, failed
What if all these fantasies come
Flailing around
Now I've said too…

Mama's little baby loves
Short'nin', short'nin',
Mama's little baby loves
Short'nin' bread,
Mama's little baby loves
Short'nin', short'nin',
Mama's little baby loves
Short'nin' bread.

Put on the skillet,
Slip on the lid,
Mama's gonna make
A little short'nin' bread.
That ain't all
She's gonna do,
Mama's gonna make
A little coffee, too.

Mama's little baby loves
Short'nin', short'nin',
Mama's little baby loves
Short'nin' bread,
Mama's little baby loves
Short'nin', short'nin',
Mama's little baby loves
Short'nin' bread.

Three little children,
Lyin' in bed
Two were sick
And the other 'most dead
Sent for the doctor
And the doctor said,
"Give those children some
Short'nin' bread."

Mama's little baby loves
Short'nin', short'nin',
Mama's little baby loves
Short'nin' bread,
Mama's little baby loves
Short'nin', short'nin',
Mama's little baby loves
Short'nin' bread.

When those children,
Sick in bed,
Heard that talk
About short'nin' bread,
Popped up well
To dance and sing,
Skipped around and cut
The pigeon wing.

Mama's little baby loves
Short'nin', short'nin',
Mama's little baby loves
Short'nin' bread,
Mama's little baby loves
Short'nin', short'nin',
Mama's little baby loves
Short'nin' bread.

Mama's little baby loves
Short'nin', short'nin',
Mama's little baby loves
Short'nin' bread,
Mama's little baby loves
Short'nin', short'nin',
Mama's little baby loves
Short'nin' bread.

I've heard there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do you?
It goes like this
The fourth, the fifth
The minor fall, the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you
She tied you
To a kitchen chair
She broke your throne, she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Maybe I've been here before
I know this room, I've walked this floor
I used to live alone before I knew you
I've seen your flag on the marble arch
love is not a victory march
Its a cold and its a broken hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

There was a time you'd let me know
What's real and going on below
But now you never show it to me do you?
And remember when I moved in you?
The holy dark was moving too
And every breath we drew was hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Maybe there's a God above
And all I ever learned from love
was how to shoot at someone who outdrew you
Its not a cry you can hear at night
Its not somebody who's seen the light
Its a cold and its a broken hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

amen!
has to be the saddest song known but probably only for those who've known the LORD & then been led away by temptations thus destroying an intimate relationship with a Holy & loving redeemer.
Thank God for His Mercy!
Hallelujah!
cold & broken as it may be, Hallelujah

John Bunyan a 1600s man of God wrote a short book I believe the title is sighs from hell.
I believe it is inspired and I can't recommend it enough to you Ben

I'd happily send you a copy.

Anything by Bunyan is great of course.

He used allegory mostly but sighs from hell was a true account as stated by the author. Iirc

Well, I'm pretty sure if hell exists, there's golf courses there.

You've played golf right?
