2) Paul McCartney
3) Queen

Hmmmm, Top 5? đŸ€”

Okay, here goes:

1. Beach Boys - Jan. 4, 1975 an incredible show with 2 or was it 3 encores?
2. Elton John - Sept. 17, 1973 - “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” tour with the flashing “Elton” and then “John” glasses
3. Rolling Stones - Jan. 21, 1973 - ZZ Top opened, Stones at arguably their peak
4. Eric Clapton - March 10, 2007 - Las Vegas, with Derek Trucks on 2nd lead guitar, they did 7 songs from “Layla”
5a. Muddy Waters - May 1977 - hard to believe I got to see him
5b. Bob Marley & the Wailers - May 5, 1979 - “Babylon by Bus” tour, so much weed in the air, I got 2nd hand stoned

Bubbling under:
J. Geils Band - Oct. 14, 1973
Little Feat - July 14, 1978
Loggins & Messina - Nov. 24, 1972
Return to Forever - Nov. 1977, Berkeley, CA
Steely Dan - March 29, 1974

Impressive that you remember exact dates. Best I can do is come up with years. Though I'm sure I could find my ticket stubs if I had to. lol

On your list I've seen the Beach Boys (3 times - once on the 4th of July 1981 in Washington DC), Elton John (with Billy Joel in 1994), J Geils at the Philly Spectrum in 1982, and Steely Dan at the Continental Airlines Arena in East Rutheford NJ in 1993.

Also ticket stubs which happen to be close by and easy to get to. I also took pictures and even recorded a couple of shows so have that for reference too.

But if not for all of the above, I might be able to remember the months and / or years on only a few.

In chrono order. Disinclined to rank between them at the moment

Nirvana '93 Hara Arena in Dayton. Partly for being the first "big" concert without parental guidance. Partly for entering liking several tracks, and exiting a born again fanatic

Ozzfest '97 Polaris Amphitheater in Columbus. Prolly cheating since there were like a dozen groups throughout the day.... and a riot

System of Down '02 Aragon Ballroom in Chicago. Small venue, standing room only. Loud as hell. It was awesome! I would likely hate it at my advanced age

Nine Inch Nails '14 New World Music Theater in Tinley Park (Chi) Very high energy, rocking music, and of course an impressive visual spectacle

Foo Fighters '21 Am Fam Ins Theater in Milwaukee. 26th Anny tour (25th postponed due to plague) and they've completely got there chit down at this point. Nearly 3hrs long and still left wanting more

Hon mentions:
The Who - post Moon, pre Entwistle passing
Skynard - not original lineup of course
Santana - just prior to Supernatural release, so all the classic stuff
Metallica - Load tour. Still a good show though
AC/DC - Ballbreaker tour
Meatloaf - shut up. It was a good show, and Cheap Trick opened

I got to see Jerry Lee Lewis when I was just a fourth grader. Outdoors in a park in San Gabriel, California, the stage was literally bouncing up and down.

Other than that, it was all dancing to small local country/rock bands playing in the bars and dance halls of South Texas.

Not much for concerts and crowds.

Most of these in the “fog” of the 70s...

Zeppelin at Oakland Coliseum.....the last or second to last show they ever did (sound was terrible unless you were right in front of the stage)
Deep Purple.....Long Beach Arena...... they were ON that night
ZZ Top at the Cow Palace in 1975 or 76.......snuck in.......LOUD
Jo Jo Gunne at Long Beach Arena..........never seen so many hot chicks in one place in my life

And
Many Grateful Dead shows in the 80s and 90s.....good friend’s brother worked for Grateful Dead Productions.......so, free tickets, back stage passes a couple times........had some real fun times.

I'm younger, wasn't around for the glory days.

Roger waters the wall was good.

Sabath next, outside blazing the whole time.

DRI was fun when I was a youngster.

Black eyed peas has to be ranked because my sister popped some b*tch upside her head.

Then there was this outdoor rave one time at a paintball place, that was a crazy night. Chicks running around everywhere in pasties... ya, good times.

Pink Floyd

J Geils...New years Eve at the old Boston Garden

Blue Oyster Cult back in the real laser show days

Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band at old Boston Garden

Grateful Dead, with Roy Buchanan as opening act(was really the best part of the show)

Do you know what the audience at a Grateful Dead show say when they run out of pot???

First concert I went to was KISS, I was so young I don’t remember it
next concert I saw the opening act was Napoleon XIV and the main group was Charlie Daniels who tore up more bow strings than I’d ever seen
.that was memorable.

My favorite live performances?

The Toadies
Squirrel Nut Zippers
Blues Traveler
Buddy Guy
Tommy Emanuel
Colter Wall

I know ^ that’s 6 but those were emotionally moving concerts to me music wise.

I’ve enjoyed almost all shows I’ve seen so honorable mentions:
Grateful Dead
AC/DC
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Nirvana
Big Head Todd and the Monsters
Primus
Tool
Live
BTO

The Rolling Stones with only 2000 fans on a Steel Wheels warmup show. They saw that us fans were rotating and played everything they wanted and because it was chill and we kept up rotating the front row asked for requests.

Henry Paul Band/Outlaws/Van Halen/Rolling Stones. Ended up next to the stage for Van Halen and the Stones.

Roger Waters performing The Wall in its entirety. Pink Floyd hardly toured this. Roger brought a stellar band and all the effects.

Fishbone opening for Maceo Parker at the Majestic Theatre

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club opening for Stone Temple Pilots. In less than 6 months, Scott was dead. STP were all sober it was a great show. They filmed the show in Chicago and it was the exact same setlist and same energy. Its a great show to watch.

I've seen so many shows and still do that it's really hard to pick 5 but those...just stood out.

Page and Plant
Claypool Lennon Delirium
Raconteurs
Black Crowes

All honorable mentions...those were great shows too.
