Hmmmm, Top 5? 🤔

Okay, here goes:

1. Beach Boys - Jan. 4, 1975 an incredible show with 2 or was it 3 encores?
2. Elton John - Sept. 17, 1973 - “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” tour with the flashing “Elton” and then “John” glasses
3. Rolling Stones - Jan. 21, 1973 - ZZ Top opened, Stones at arguably their peak
4. Eric Clapton - March 10, 2007 - Las Vegas, with Derek Trucks on 2nd lead guitar, they did 7 songs from “Layla”
5a. Muddy Waters - May 1977 - hard to believe I got to see him
5b. Bob Marley & the Wailers - May 5, 1979 - “Babylon by Bus” tour, so much weed in the air, I got 2nd hand stoned

Bubbling under:
J. Geils Band - Oct. 14, 1973
Little Feat - July 14, 1978
Loggins & Messina - Nov. 24, 1972
Return to Forever - Nov. 1977, Berkeley, CA
Steely Dan - March 29, 1974

After further review, gonna add these shows for Honorable Mention:

Santana-McLaughlin - Sept. 14, 1973 - last show of their tour, their guitar playing was so franking FAST!
George Thorogood - Oct. 23, 1981 - kicked off his "50 States in 50 Dates" tour in Hawaii
Jackson Browne & Linda Ronstadt - June 18, 1972 - Linda opened, she was, of course, incredible, Jackson was great too

SOB - don't be embarrassed about seeing Meatloaf. I've seen him twice and both were outstanding shows!

BGZ/DrMadd - I've also seen Roger Water doing The Wall. It was a great show. Just didn't quite rise to Pink Floyd level.

Some of the most FUN concerts I've been too weren't 'the best shows' - they were just a TON of fun ... shows like -

Kansas - at Six Flags Great Adventure (free show!)
Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes - also at Great Adventure for free. The best part of THAT show was that Bruce came out and played Rosalita with Southside as the encore!
J. Geils - at Jones Beach
Daft Punk - at the Cyclones Stadium at Coney Island
Grateful Dead - at Continental Arena in the Meadowlands
Little Steven - at the Hammerstein Ballroom
ZZ Top - at the Meadowlands
Kiss - at the Cow Palace - opening band was WASP

I honestly can't think of any concert that I didn't have a good time. Some bands sucked live (I'm thinkin of the Cars and Guns N' Roses) but the concert was fun. Goooood times friends! lol

Of all people, Paul Simon was numero uno. I saw him do a tune-up show for the "Rhythm of the Saints" tour in Peoria Illinois. Somehow, I remember that there were 17 different percussionists on stage. Incredible show. Band was very loose and they would do a song like "The Boxer" 2 or 3 different ways. Simon was clearly having a good time. They played "Call Me Al twice, just for the hell of it because the audience was enjoying it but they kept playing it at different tempo's. It was actually funny.

Second/Third would have to be both times I've seen Lyle Lovett and his Large Band. Ever get a chance LL with The Large Band, do NOT hesitate.

4th - Naked Raygun at a queer bar in Carbondale Illinois. Yeah, I know that's an easy softball, but every month they would turn the place into a Punk bar for a night and they had Naked Raygun down from Chicago. AMAZING show that I walked away from with a chipped tooth.

5th. The final Rush show. I saw Rush 8 times. First time I was 12. The last time I had my 20 year old daughter. The whole crowd was bunch of aging Rush fans and their kids. My daughter was just amazed at the Laser light show and at one point I looked over at her during "Spirit of the Radio" or something and she was grooving and having a good time. Literally brought a tear to my eye. Rush went out on top. Ged and lost a little on his voice but musically, they had never sounded better.

Lots and lots of others. Almost breaking the list was the one that started it all....Seeing Alice Cooper decapitate himself at my first concert at age 7. That started me down a weird path...lol. The 4 times I saw Warren Zevon including the time I got to meet him backstage. Weirdly I saw Eddie Money 3 times. I saw Mitch Ryder put on a show for a bunch of old people and me and a buddy. First half was the hits...second half was him doing weird covers and just having fun. INCREDIBLE show. Seeing Elvis Costello rip through "Shabby Doll" while I leaned on the stage close enough I coulda reached out and grabbed him. Seeing Morris Day & The Time not once but twice. Both times with Teedubbya! Seeing Bootsie Collins...again with Tee. Sipping martinis out of plastic cups while watching Frank Sinatra belt out the standards.

Taking my daughter to some show for her 12th birthday at some $hithole in East St. Louis called Pop's Place and breaking some kid's nose with a backwards headbutt because he wouldn't stop pushing my daughter and me To this day she says it's the coolest thing she's ever seen...lol. Seeing the Amazing Rhythm Aces at a fundraiser for a bloodbank in Springfield Missouri. I do love me some live music.
