cleaning out my mother's condo and came across several decks of Pinochle playing cards, a few unopened and the others look like they may have been used a couple of times...

I know my father used to play once in a while, but I have never had an interest.

Anyone interested in all or some of the decks?

Haven't played in decades, probably have a deck or 2 myself.

It's gotta be tough coming accross all kinds of little things like that. Both my parents had a tough time cleaning out their folks' places.

I am not a pinochle guy, but I hope the whole process is cathartic.

not sure if it's more unsettling doing this while my mother is still alive (102, will be 103 in March!).
Sometimes I have to just stop and leave...
But I have no choice, the closing is at the end of the month.

I never learned that one. Dad tried to get me interested in Cribbage, but it didn't take.

my sister came in from NJ (Pennington) last week and went through the pockets of all the clothes. I've had two years to go through absolutely everything else, and just before I started that endeavor my mother was perfectly clear minded and told me where she had stashed stuff...which I found exactly where and what she had stated. My sister found a dime and a thousand tissues.

Pretty much on top of valuables, her style was/is Early American and Colonial with a smattering of Asian stuff..an antique opium chest that I am keeping. A few pieces of special stuff like Henriot Quimper signed plates, both original and reproductions, some Waterford, a few converted oil/kerosene lamps on gateleg tables, candle snuffers...not much of that is hot these days.
Some pewter, couple hand hammered old copper trays. A couple sets of Depression glass plates and stuff in that deep red color, some Rogers Silver serving pieces, Lot's of charming stuff but only meaningful to a handful of collectors these days.

I grew up aware of the stuff so have a small advantage over most people I know.

Man I played a LOT of pinochle as a kid with my dad and my uncles, that and cribbage (my dad and uncle Gary’s (Delta’s doppelgänger) favorite game. I never cared much for cribbage but I did love playing pinochle but NOBODY on my moms side of the family did so after my folks divorced at 12 I kinda quit playing . I think we generally played in pairs 4,6 or 8 and number of decks varied.
