8track the Domestic today.

Putting away laundry, chipping ice & snow away from the curb, squirrels to feed and a dog to be walked.

Sipping on some Cafe' Verona in search of motivation.

So got an e-mail from the IT job that I've been chasing. IT help desk grunt for the local schools and some work with other surrounding schools and some fire stations, police stations , EMT, town halls etc... that they have contracts with.

They want to hire me and make an offer. Conference call on Thurs morning to go through the hiring process and work out terms and conditions. Haven't talked about money and stuff yet, that will be the Thurs morning meeting and discussion. Nothing is set in stone just yet... we are now in the the negotiation stage.

Have another interview at 10 AM today for a Manuf, Engineering job too (playing both sides of an experienced engineer and a rookie IT guy). Passed the phone interview on this one, and now on to the face to face interview with the owner of the company and some engineering staff. They sound kinda desperate to fill the position and would like me to do some QC stuff too. 2nd interview on this one. We'll see how it pans out.

The engineer job would pay more but if I had the luxury of picking between the two, I'd pick the IT thing for a new challenge even if it pays less.

I'm keeping multiple irons in the fire on the job search and will pick the one that, hopefully, works best fro me.

Eight NINE!

Good luck, chose wisely, as they say. For the engineering job, at some point you might be able to segue into IT. With the engineering/production experience you'll have more bonafides to get IT funding that is too often lacking.

Hey Cbid Historians.

Anybody recall the name of the Cooking/Baking/Recipes thread we had going a while back?

PSA Don't shop at Shop Rite on senior day and when they have a can can sale. 🤦
Just got back after watching the peeps loading up 3-4 cases of can goods, as well as 3-4 cases of Progresso Soup in shopping carts and my favorite the peeps riding around on the little shopping vehicles. BLOCKING THE ISLE & HOGGING THE SOUP AREA. 😣 😣

Just got home from the interview at the other place that makes plastic lenses and coatings for lenses and stuff. Interviewed with the owner of the company (small business). They would like me to play manufacturing engineering, a QC role and some IT work. (Red flag #1: One person to spearhead three different roles).

They bought a used piece of equipment to coat lenses (vacuum deposition) that they want to bring online. I have some experience with this in a previous life and it's not an easy thing to do especially if you are using old equipment. Their other equipment is pretty old too. Small private company with legacy equipment, the place looks like it's stuck in the 1990's. (Red flag #2).

The guy was kinda creepy and appeared to be a germaphobe - hesitant to a handshake and completely masked up. First question to me was, "So, you answered no on the vaccination question on the application, can you tell me why?"

I'll play it out but I'm thinking that its a no go on my end. I don't want to step into something that I might regret 6 months down the road. Plus he's a Vikings fan (Red flag #3).

Yeah, that's pretty much my feeling too. Didn't get a warm and fuzzy feeling about the place. I'll send a nice email - "thanks for taking time out of your schedule to meet with me... blah, blah, blah... but I don't think the position is a good match for either of us.... blah, blah, blah"

So, I know it's reality and all, but I'm a little hurt at "stuck in the 1990s" being used as some type of long ago in the times of our forefathers equivalent. Just sayin'

Not sure it violates HIPPA laws. I answered the question that was posed to me. Maybe he or people working there have issues with all the hype on COVID (real or imaginary... shrug). I explained my stance on it. Some of his business is working with DoD and the feds which still mandate the vax. The guy needs to abide by the rules to keep his money stream going.

So, I know it's reality and all, but I'm a little hurt at "stuck in the 1990s" being used as some type of long ago in the times of our forefathers equivalent. Just sayin'

Sorry to hurt you, pretty sure you'll get over it (just busting your balls). My music selection is stuck in the 60's, 70's 80's, 90's. My clothing selection is stuck in the 90's. I have tee shirts and other apparel older than my kids (exuding my boxer briefs, socks and a couple thongs that FGM gifted me)

The company has legacy 90's equipment stuff. Old Allen Bradley controllers running the machines which I doubt they even have the operator's manuals for. Looks like they have a niche market/product that they are willing to sit on and maintain for their bread and butter. Not much forward looking for future development. The guy has a business that works for him and his needs. Didn't get the feeling that he wants to grow but just wants to maintain the norm.

Not saying it's a bad thing, just not something I want to sign up for.
