Poll Question: What is it about a song most important to you?

Been kicking this around for a while. The easy answer would be all three are important.

If you think about non-instrumental songs, is it the music, the lyrics, or the sound of the voice of the singer that makes you really love a tune?

Let's hear it. Harharharhar.

Non-instrumental?? Would have to be the voice of the singer.

Otherwise, it's the music. The instruments and how well it is arranged to my ear. I like many genres of music, as long as it's done well.

My choice would be melody.

The combination of all three. It's the synergistic collateral benefit that makes a hit.

+1

Not all songs have lyrics nor require a vocalist but imo without a good melody, the other two could be rendered inconsequential.

I do not shoot pool anywhere they don't have music, I drowned out the Bull**** & Banter that goes on around me... and zone in on the Pool Table and our company around the table... If I'm not in my zone, I toss down more beer and or a puff puff or two until total focus at task at hand, local folks at the bar know when im in the element on the table and they'll stop talking and watched when I get a challenge for a beer! They tell people Im playing watch out for that guy when he gets alcohol in him, the more the better he'll play ya... a couple guys I've played quite often will see me and say "RACK EM"

Most important? I'd have to go with the manner in which they hook you.
Sometimes it's a drum fill, or a small guitar solo, or a vocal placement.

All really good songs have a hook to them.

BTW, thanks for the Allman Bros Russ. Haven't heard that in a long time. It was one of the albums of "High School".
