Bucky, my sister lives in Center Moriches, which is halfway down the Island from NYC. I took the train from Ronkonkoma station (closest to her house) to Penn station and then the subway to South Ferry, which is right by the ferry to the statue. Easy as pie.

Then when we were ready to go home after walking around for a while, I went into the closest subway entrance and found the one to Penn station. Then hopped the train back to Ronkonkoma.

It's pretty intuitive, and signs everywhere to tell you what you need to know.

Drove to the ferry station, which is at the other end of the island, and got off in New London. Quick drive to RI from there, but instead of taking I95, we took Route 1 and drove back roads through the countryside.

Welcome back to Monday fellas.

Beautiful day today, sunny and warm so knocked out a few chores.

While changing the engine oils on the things I realized I'm overdue on trans fluid and filter for wife's car. She's about to go on a 1k mile trip so I ordered the things after calling two places and getting told $275 for the trans fluid and filters. I'll do it myself for $75. $200 is not worth 2-3 hours of my time.

Lawnmower I typically do every 40 hours of runtime so next change shouldn't be for another 20 hours but I noticed the filter was leaking in the shed so I took it in the garage and pulled the drain pan - no oil. Hopefully that was just a leak over the winter and not something that was there all last summer. Guess I'll find out if it throws a rod.

Still need to do go kart, pitbike, and generators but I don't feel like going back to the store for oil. Time to pickup sticks and start a fire.

Tank came with us. That's why we drove. He's a great traveler, although he's not much of a fan sitting in the back seat all day, he lays there and doesn't complain.

My sister and my niece wanted to meet him. They're both dog lovers. He got to see the deer in my sister's back yard and when I let him out he went right for them. Of course they ran... 😇

My sister watched him when we went to the Statue of Liberty, but we took him on the ferry to RI, too.

I'd wager this dog has been in more states now than a lot of people. CA, AZ, NM, TX, LA, AL, MS, FL, GA, SC, NC, VA, MD, DE, NJ, NY, CT and RI.

Hey 500 people'
Nothing new or exciting except for settling my diminished value claim form my crash a year ago. Finally. Car Fax sez my vehicle suffered a $3,900 loss in value despite repairs. I got $6k!

Swam 1,200 yards today, up from 1,000 per swim.

Nothing else to report ...

Got caught accidentally stealing a car.
Lost my boss's credit card.
Spent an hour inside a car in which the driver was murdered two years ago- complete with a seatbelt with cuts through it and some dried blood inside.

Don't know how first responders, cops, firemen etc. deal with stuff like this regularly.

Can see how it doesn't take too much to get a level of PTSD.

Not sure I want to go back tomorrow, but will.

I hate my car. Went in for an oil change. Finding out I need $1700 with of stuff done. Then told to l have two bad tires, brought in to tire shop since they are under warranty. Only 2 will be replaced at no cost, the other 2 are on me so another $400 for a total of $2100. Ugh expensive oil change.

Lol, compartmentalization (and booze).

I couldn't eat BBQ chicken for a couple weeks after being first on- scene to a house fire where people didn't get out in time (don't beat the fire department getting there, dummy!), but would normally not have any trouble grabbing lunch after leaving a gnarly crime scene or accident.

Obviously the Compartmentalization isn’t working so well and avoided the booze.

Was in a gift shop in Newport, RI. Saw a plaque I had to get for my sister.

"I smile because you are my sister. I laugh because there is nothing you can do about it."

She laffed... then hung it in her kitchen.
