Am in da woods literally and figuratively today. Sister has tasked me with reviewing and researching medical emergent systems.

Any experiences with these or other companies?

On viewing of website, Life Alert is the I’ve Fallen, and Can’t Get Up fame. Website is busy and anxiety causing. Too much red. Their marketing department should know better.

Lifeline looks more professional and endorsed by AARP.

It is about medical security more than police protection. Although a medical and cop bundle would be a consideration.

Figure this group probably has some experience 🌫.

It's hard to beat a plain old cellphone. If cell coverage is weak, can you install a cellphone booster?

We have a SimplySafe alarm system that has panic buttons, including USB sized dongles that include a panic button. It uses both cell and internet connections.

if cellphone/internet is not available, there are satellite based system sold to hikers/wilderness explorers that might work.

I don't usually mind if they call an ambulance but I normally warn people I knock down not to call the police... 😟

8track, if thety already have android/apple phones, you can just add on a smart watch and they can voice dial from the watch if they need to.

They just need to remember to charge/wear the watch, but I am guessing you will need buy -in with any system.

Come to think of it, a few Alexas around the house might not be a bad idea either. "Hey Alexa, call me a bambulance!"

They gonna use it when out and about as well as in the house? gotta wear it, whatever you get...and make sure the battery is charged

Good point, Delta. The Apple watch with phone would work basically anywhere.

It might also be a good way to push daily reminders about taking meds (if they are on any), etc.

Just be prepared to be "tech support"...

Well...here's one for you...
My mom fell down...and stayed down for half a day...
She forgot to press the button on the wrist band or the machine base 10 ft away within her reach if she crawled...the wrist one was within reach all the time...

Go figure...

Following this thread.

My dad took spill a couple days ago and mom had to call for an ambulance. He didn't get hurt from the fall other than some bruises but the concerning thing is what led to the fall. After some blood work, his blood stuff is kinda out of whack (potassium, hemoglobin, white blood cells are not right). Also has issues with his kidneys. He'll be in the hospital at least until this coming Monday while the try to pump him with fluids and get his kidneys running again and his blood fixed.

Writing is pretty much on the wall. Time to get my parents into some sort of assisted living sort of thing. A one level condo/apartment so there are no stairs to navigate and one that has some RNA/CNA on staff to help them as they need.

A few months ago they didn't want to discuss it. Even mentioning it would get my mom on the defensive and shut down the conversation. I think recent developments have softened them to entertain the idea.
