Rick, the Salamones were a little higher than that, but worth it for the experience. It was a helluva smoke! It took Shawn 2 hours to get to this point. I think he burned his fingerprints off, cause he kept smoking past this point.

Andy carved some toothpicks out of SC spills and we used those on the nubs. At about a 1/4 inch, I began tasting some STRONG cedar notes then noticed that the SC toothpick I was using caught fire. Everyone had a laugh at my expense... again!

When ya headed back to SD? We have to take you to the LCDH next time. You'd definitely feel at home there.

Mike,

Along those same lines whatever happened with your experiment with vac sealing those last year?

They are EXACTLY the same as the day they were rolled. Everytime I got one out to smoke, it was just as wet and pliable as it was fresh off Taboada's table. The fresh rolled taste is perfectly preserved and they're every bit as as oily and tasty. There's no trace of ammonia and they don't go sick.

It's the perfect way to completely halt the aging process. I have no idea what effect vacuum storage will have over multiple years though. I may never find out either. I haven't been able to keep my hands off of them. And once they're gone... they're gone forever 😞
