Sales always feels like they are the center of the universe.

Here on earth logistics and efficient processes make things and money happen. I appreciate sales, when they have a ****ing clue what they’re saying to a referral and don’t write promissory checks their azz isn’t going to cash.

Sociopaths are drawn to sales, just saying.

Frank I thought by reading this thread you would be a YUGE Cheeto fan. Love ya buddy

well, in my defense, my sales weren't done in a cubicle taking calls from people placing orders.
I was self employed, knocking on doors, and closing one-call sales....
Then had to run the job to collect the money...and then everyone got paid.
Cuz of my sale.

Large group meetings are worthless. The organizer should be fired every time one happens. Any meeting that takes more than 1/2 was poorly organized and a waste of time. In sales you bend every rule to the breaking point. Sometimes you break the rule and claim ignorance. In sales only one thing matters, did you make the company money.

Having said that a good salesman undersells and over provides. A good salesman works with logistics to know what can and cannot be done. On a given sale you may need input from 5 or 6 different departments. A good salesman gets this input before giving the customer an answer. If you have to lower your price then get the hell out of sales.

In group meetings to many mouth breathers suck the air up. They reached their rank based on seniority and very little else.

That’s not entirely correct. I’ve worked for or near a number of companies where sales was only about accumulating backlog before an IPO or acquisition. Then you cash out and delivering is someone else’s problem. It is a miserable situation once you identify it happening.

Spey this one the number and time involved was necessary because of gov compliance. I can’t lose my status as a third party Gov contractor, I enjoy accessing Hut surveillance field reports too much.

I couldn't deal wif that.
Always had trouble dealing with authority figures and corporate nonsense.
Once I liberated myself from that and went solo I not only made more money but made money for others too.

Teams is invasive and mind numbing, and too many meetings destroy any real productivity. Best practice would be to just get some fuggin work done

Teams is the best thing EVER for me... It allows me to work from home 4 days a week. My work requires a ton of collaboration with my team and others so without it we would spend a ton of time in a conference room or Server room. Instead i sit at my desk and smoke Cigars while also doing work and still participating in the call...

I live 75 miles (one way) from the office and used to make that drive every day, now only once a week...

Speaking from experience
0645 - Daily Ops Update Call - .5hr
0800 - Daily Production Meeting - .5hr
0930 - Bi Weekly (every other Tues) Safety Mtg - 1.5hr
1030 - 2x weekly (Mon & Thur) Dept Update Mtg - 1hr
1300 - Daily Maint Mtg - .5hr

So that's 23-27% of a "40" hour work week spent in meetings. That doesn't account for whatever project manager or senior exec wants to suddenly verbally masturbate all over the workforce

And is “Best Practices” the new corporate catch phrase of the day?

That term is like 10-15 years old and was so pervasive it made me sick. It has no singular defined meaning or action in any context. I always prefer the "golden rules": 1) Do unto others a s you would wish they would do unto you; and 2) He who has e the gold makes the rules (kind of just kidding).

To answer the original question....Yes. I do. I have no interest in the chit-chat or gossip that occurs in F2F meetings. I can go into a Teams meeting, get the info I need, and check out

I've been (Very happily) retired for some time, when still working the vast majority of meetings were a waste of time with most if not all participants constantly staring at a cell phone.

F2F or virtual, if there is no meeting agenda produced, followed, action(s) assigned, and action followed up, it's a total waste of time.
