Friend dropped off a half dozen of fresh corn on the cob earlier. She bought a couple dozen from a local farmer's market. Love me some fresh corn on the cob.
Cooked them all (steamed). I slathered my ears in butter and sprinkled with salt. Yummy. Still a couple or ears left that I'll use for my lunches this week.
Good news, my brother's mother in law Anna (she's 93 yrs old) will be going home tomorrow after a few weeks in the hospital and physical rehab for heart conditions. By family relation she's an adopted grandma. Very strong person mentally but her body is giving away. Sister in law, a nurse, flew to MA on within a day or so when her Mom was taken the ER as a result of her issues. SIL spent a few weeks here and at the hospital then the physical rehab sleeping there most nights to ensure her Mom would be back on her feet again and fully set to go home.
My my brother-in-law and his wife moved in a handful of years ago to take care of Anna. They do a great job. Sadly, time only moves in one direction and is not in favor of old people. $hit it's not favorable to young people either. Just gotta make the best of it while we are alive.
We had to do some rearrangements and replacements in their house for accommodations. Toss out her old recliner and get a self lift recliner chair, redo her bed room and other navigation areas in the house for a walker we bought. Anna might not like us tossing our her old recliner for new one buts is better than the old one. She'll like her new one but probably won't admit it right away. It's got a massage vibration thing, heated seat and stuff. I'd probably fall asleep on the thing within 20 minutes.
These past 5 or 6 months or so have been pretty sucky on a personal level with medical issues of people I deeply care about and some of mine. I can't change it. I can only just try to do my best and keep trudging forward in life.
