Morning Ram and all.

It's a nice 70 going to 85 today. When we were in Portland Oregon years ago we visited their famous Voodoo doughnut shop. They just opened one in our area so we are planning out morning walk to conveniently end there. Bout time for a apple fritter.

New owner of a cat. Neighbor is looking to move to Florida and wanted to find a good home for their cat so I said I would take it on. Average size indoor cat. Pretty friendly but was kind of freaked out earlier today since he's in a different home. Probably take a couple days to get used to the new place. He's sleeping on the couch now so maybe it won't take that long.

Went to the fall festival in town. Nobody needed an ambulance after the street luge races this year. I don't think anyone crashed. The Green Machine team are this year's champions. Was pretty fun but after a hot dog, Italian sausage and a couple fried doughs... I think the cat has the right idea. Time for a cat nap on the couch.

Got floated to another unit again tonight. It's turning into a monthly thing. Of the 6 nurses working this floor tonight only 2 work on this unit. I dont know why anyone would work here. We got a new ceo a year ago he cut out things like secretaries and nurses aides saying the nurses can do it all. He also increased the ratios so every nurse has 5 patients. When I started these floors were 3-4 patients per nurse now it's 5-6 and no help and gotta do a lot more for the patients. It's 2am I'm just now taking a bathroom break. Came in at 1830.

Lolz. This is indiana. Theres no unions no advocacy no nothing. There's only 3 hospital systems by me. One is for profit and is horrendous. One is owned by nuns and I got caught up in mass layoffs with them in 2010, burned some bridges with the words I had with them. The third is mine which is changing/has changed. Part of the issue is the nuns closed 3 hospitals within 10 miles of mine because they were unprofitable. So now all those uninsured patients that drove those hospitals out are coming to mine and they're squeezing the nurses to maintain profit.

Doctors are also burned out and overloaded. Lots have left and several have come on, made comments about it being the worst place they've worked, and leave.

California is the only state I'm aware of with laws in place to mandate safe staffing ratios. People die every day because nobody has the time to actually monitor and intervene.

His given name is Jasper. I didn't pick it, it was given to him by the neighbor's kids. He's probably about 4 or 5 yrs old (?)

Not exactly sure as the neighbors got it from the shelter a few years ago. Not sure cats recognize their name when it's called like a dog would. I'm open to rename it but probably just stick with the name their kids gave it.

Laundry is on the to do list. Sunny and seasonal weather here. I'll toss some honey garlic chicken in the crock pot to eat later and have leftovers for lunch this week. Thinking jasmine rice would go well with it. I also predict a nap while watching football might creep up on me.

So, ether become a nurse practitioner or a physician's assistant, and sub-specialize on the job, all of which you are highly capable. You could also move into a busy private practice as well. Or, move somewhere where long-working, hard-working nurses get respect and paid enough, whose work is respected, and where you will have upward income potential. Orlando's AdventHealth System, just for example, is like that. And, the nurse-anesthetists my daughter hires earn well over $200/hr. Just sayin...

My personal opinion, waste of bacon. Ditch the clams and the fish and keep the bacon.

Went out for brunch with the kid. One of the local Mom and Pop places in town that does breakfast all day. It's actually an old train dining car and they added onto it for a backroom seating. It's been around for longer than I've been alive. Oddly enough the place was in a few scenes in some Hollywood movies

"The diner scene in Delusion is called Blue Moon Diner which is located in Gardner, Massachusetts. This was the same diner that was used in the film School Ties starring Brendan Fraser, Matt Damon, Chris O'Donnell, and Ben Affleck."

I picked a breakfast sandwich, yes with bacon. He picked French toast. Full bellies, and I predict a cat nap while watching football.

Speaking of cat, he slept with my son and was around in the morning but when we went and did errands in the morning the cat somehow disappeared. Didn't leave any doors or windows open so he didn't get out. Probably hiding somewhere.

Gorgeous day here in NJ. Sitting outside enjoying a EP inch during a reprieve from kidney stone pain. Waiting for a 3mm to pass knowing a 4mm one is waiting for its turn, yeah that's the life
