the latest heat wave will be gone today...high of 88 forecast, after low of 60 this morning...cooler weather will be welcome...hot weather and recovery don't mix...

gonna have surgery tomorrow morning, on my left wrist and thumb...doc is gonna clean out some rough cartilage and remove the damaged basal joint...then use a tendon from my left arm as a tendon graft to fill the space left from the removed bone...

best case scenario will be a more functional and stronger wrist and thumb...I'm hoping for at minimum, a measure of pain relief ... the arthritis has been there since I first injured the wrist playing high school football in 1969, 54 years ago...that injury got me a medical deferment from the Viet Nam draft, so there is a positive here...

had surgery to fuse the wrist 25 years ago, but have continued to suffer pain and reduced flexibility, functionality and strength in my left wrist and hand...

79/61 today. A/C off all day! Windows open tonight for certain. Tomorrow is expected to be more of the same.

Bathroom rehab is waiting for the tub and tile to arrive, probably both on Wednesday.

Niece is presently in Israel for a year of college and can't get out because the airports are closed. 🙏

With a submersible pump at least. You are correct in letting the well company pull out the pump. Would take more than you to try and pull it out. Good luck and keep us updated.

They came out this morning, pulled the pump. Date code 1997. Well is 80ft deep. New pump in, treated the well with chlorine and muriatic acid, running the pump for 2 hours into the ditch to purge sediment and chemicals. Also adjusted pressure on my switch and in my pressure tank. I've been fine with my 30/50 psi switching but he cranked it up to 45/65. I'll probably like that more.

Two. Thousand. Dollars.

Good thing I watched them and asked questions. I'll do the next one myself if when it fails again. Will need a 2nd man for removal and aligning for install but other than a t bar to thread into the cap thing that seats into the pipe to the house, nothing special was needed. Hopefully this one lasts 25 years too.

Golf courses disagree.

I know, I see them all doing right now, but they have a commerical schedule to keep so early winter visitors can play and a team of groundskeepers to hand-care for the turf. Also, they have a seed budget slightly larger than mine, so if really warm temps hit, they can keep dropping more seed as needed. Me, not so much.

Robert, in the sumer I have Arden15 Bermuda and in the winter ChampionGQ Rye.

haha, it's a crop. The harvest is how it looks and feels. Totally worth it, plus my kids love playing on it.

Wife asked me to smoke a chicken so she can make chili for dinner. Took a chicken out the freezer and put it in a tub of water to thaw. 5 hours later still frozen solid. Ran to the store for 5lbs of thighs to save dinner they got done in about an hour and made it to the chili pot in time.

Big bird not fully thawed now but enough to spatchcock it. Still plenty fuel in the smoker so I threw that on now. That can be tomorrow's dinner.

Danm... sometimes ya gotta shell out the dough. But, like you said, now ya know how.

High of 76 today. Sat in the garage with some tunes and a Padron 2000 maddie. Tank likes to sun himself in da driveway.

Fu@king no hot water. It was working this morning but later in the afternoon... no hot water. Hot water and stove are both fired by natural gas. Stove works so it's not a gas issue. Must be something wrong with the hot water heater. At first I thought the pilot light went out but nope, no pilot light light or no smell of gas leak (whew at least there is no gas leak). Something wrong with the burner.

Fix it guy says it needs a replacement part of some sort but since it's Sunday he can't get the part to fix it until tomorrow.

Looks like I'll be taking a cold shower tonight.

Dodgers have to recover quickly from their beatdown yesterday and hope their rookie pitcher Bobby Miller can save them after their HOF vet Kershaw flamed out in the playoffs -- again...

it reminded me of the playoffs a few years ago when I was with Whistle and Palama at Casa Fuente in Las Vegas...shocking meltdown...
