Jimi Hendrix’s version of “All Along the Watchtower” will always be my #1 cover of all time. I never get tired of listening to it.

Not in my Top 10 of covers but initially I really wanted to like Alison Krauss’ cover of Todd Rundgren’s “It Wouldn’t Have Made Any Difference” but I didn’t care for the lyric changes she made. Nonetheless, I do love her voice and the emotion she brings to the song.

For good reason Jimmy Page has been opposed to anyone covering any Led Zeppelin songs and with good reason. Most of the drum beats in individual songs were of multiple rhythms, the riffs bordered on impossible for all but the most accomplished guitarists and few singers have the octave range of Robert Plant. In addition John Paul Jones could fill in the gaps like no other.

That said the cover of Stairway to Heaven led by Anne and Nancy Wilson with Jason Bonham on drums when the Kennedy Center honored Led Zeppelin was absolutely phenomenal. The tears in Robert Plant eyes speak volumes of approval for their rendition. In addition, the fact that Jason and the choir members wore derbies showed their upmost respect for John Bonham.

after listening to Nonpoint's version and then to Phil Collin's original, my impression was that Collins' version was the cover and Nonpoint's was the original...just in arrangements, instrumentation and sound quality...the difference between a basic four piece band, albeit an excellent one, and the complex sounds from Collins' high tech drums, guitar, synthesizer and keyboard is dramatic.
