Lost my keys to unlock the battery and remove it from my ebike. The battery is locked on the bike so when I need to recharge it, I have to plug it in on the covered porch. But it's cold and the battery (ion lithium) suffers from it. I would like to bring the battery inside where it's warm to recharge it.

It's not an emergency but I would like to take the battery off an on and bring it inside when not in use. I can call a locksmith to pick the lock and cut me a new key or buy a lock pick kit to try to pick the lock by myself. I'll try the latter (like $30 on Amazon). If I can't pick it, I'll have a locksmith pick it. I could also bring the entire bike inside rather then leaving it on the porch but that's hassle. I'd rather get the lock picked so I can mount and dismount the battery rather it being permanently locked to the bike.

A bent small screwdriver and a length of wire can be made into a tension wrench and rake.

It's a cylindrical lock but uses a blade like regular lock key. I'm guessing that it's not too hard to pick if you know what you are doing. Maybe 4 or 6 pins. Mobile locksmith guy says he's done numerous ones and he can probably pick it in a couple minutes and could probably make a key for it onsite. He says it will be an easy thing to do.

Seems like a nice guy and is a recommended locksmith in town. I didn't ask him a price but my guess is it would be around $100 (wild guess) since he'd drive over in his van, pick the lock and cut a set of keys.

Figured I'll give it a shot myself with a lock pick kit. It's not an emergency. It'll give me something to do this weekend and maybe learn how to pick a lock. If I can't pick it, I'll call him to do it at some future time.

Bought a kit on Amazon. This thing to practice with:

I got an E-Bike... I keep it in the garage, so the key stays in it.

Kinda surprised you keep an E-bike on the porch. Those things last about as long as a catalytic converter around here.

Going to ask to go home earlier. That is against who I am, but pride bled into stupidity yesterday.

Welcome back to Monday fellas

Bucky, discuss price before calling out. I called one out to repin/rekey the side door on my house. It was almost $300!! Worst part is I know how to repin those locks I just didn't have a pin set and thought the $150 for a new pin set to do one lock was too expensive.
