^Ain't dat true!

Speaking of which, I gotta find out what shade of gravel is acceptable for my front yard...

EDIT: Madison Gold is the approved shade.

Bob's Country Bunker featured both music genres. The Blues Brothers is the one and only movie I enjoy watching more than once.

“What is the difference between country music and western music?

Country music emphasized simplified lyric and instrumentation with roots in Appalachian folk music jazz and blues. Western music is a blend of this style plus elements of ranchero and southwestern music of the border states, as well as polka and other folk styles of other cultures.”

Western music has a sub-genre of The Bakersfield Sound which condenses these traits in exemplary fashion.

Yes, a great example of Western music is the band, Riders in the Sky.

There is another sub-branch, Western Swing, e.g., Bob Wells & His Texas Playboys

If I plant something it has to be on the approved list and I have to have the HOA landscaper actually plant it.

I've got a sign in my front yard. Looks like an ADT sign... blue and white. It says "Protected by FAFO Home Security" and under that it says "F--k Around and Find Out".

Nobody from the HOA has told me to remove it yet.

I'm not a fan of country or western music but I understand and appreciate the musical talent. Nowadays country and western "music" rubs me wrong. It's a far cry from the older big name stuff like Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Roy Clark, and so on.

I grew up having to watch Hee Haw every week (we only had one TV and 2 or 3 maybe channels that the rabbit ears could pull in). I didn't not like it, it was a good show but when Hee Haw was on, my parents and grandparents always watched it. It wasn't until I got older until I realized how damn good Roy Clark was on the banjo, guitar, and fiddle.

^ So you've watched Hee Haw.

When visiting Grandparents on my Dad's side way up north in Park Falls WI, had to endue the Lawrence Welk Show. But the positive was I learned a ton from them retired farmers and school teachers. When they semi retired from farming Gramps taught math at a public school and Grandma taught English. Reading, Writing, and Rithmetic... the three R's.

Also learned to drive a tractor with a front end loader when was about 12 yrs old thanks to them. I wouldn't trust myself to operate one of those these days but back in the day I was able to and didn't kill anyone.

The smells and sounds of a percolator coffee, bacon frying on the stove, eggs, toast... those sounds and smells will never escape my brain. Oddly enough, the smell of composted cow manure that drifts in the air around a farm in the spring planting time is a good smell memory for me.
