A couple of little ones from the Bahamas, Queen snapper on the left, up from 1000 feet and a Wahoo on the right trolling on top. That Wahoo made some great Sushi that night.228787.gif

Tim,

I had brought 30 sticks for the 5 day trip and came home with 15. It was, as my friend put it, "a kill mission". He is the captain of the 65 foot sport fishing boat that we were on. He had to bring the boat back to Stuart FL (where I live) from Key West. So an other friend and I met him in Miami and off we went. What a trip! We started in Bimini and fished our way up the Bahamas to West End.

The only time I had to smoke cigars was when we were trolling from about 6AM to 12PM. That's when we would stop and fish the deep bottom (1000 feet+) for 3 hours. Then we would find a spot in 100 feet of water on the edge on the drop off to anchor up for the night and continue fishing the bottom until the sharks would find us. Ever had an 800 pound Bull shark on the line?......

The best part of this trip was the cost.... about 200 bucks. We came back with over 300 pounds of fillet to split with 4 guys, Grouper, Snapper, Wahoo and Tuna. I've never cleaned so many, or caught that many fish in my life.

Did you try that Anejo that I sent you yet?

Yeah, I did smoke the Anejo! Very strong powerful cigar! Definately NOT for everyday use! I liked it! I salute you for your generosity and fish catching prowess! 😃

I am planning a "bachelor party" trip for a buddy in May next year, and was thinking about a Bahamas trip or a long range tuna trip to the "other side". Maybe you can get me some contacts.

Stuart eh?

My brother's boss lives in Stuart (runs a palm tree nursury).

I grew up in Melbourne.

P.S.

You kept that little wahoo????? Shame on you..LOL.

Andy,

That size Wahoo makes the best Sushi, the bigger ones are only good on the grill. There were 3 bigger ones in the box but they had lost their color.

I've never eaten Wahoo, but I just finished off my Kingfish fillets last night.

I drizzle a little lemon and olive oil on them, shake a generous amount of "Everglades Heat" seasoning on them, then in the broiler they go......nice and simple.

To me, kings are a little too rich and oily for sashimi or sushi; I imagine wahoo is a little different though.
