^ You may be being too kind to the cigar. If it's sitting at upper 50s rh for 6 weeks, it's not over-humidified. I keep my stuff b/w 65%-68%, and they're not too moist (for me).

This cigar, the Herencia, they could just be very freshly rolled mass-produced cigars that need to sit for year. If they're still problematic, it's the cigar.

Thanks, Leebo. AJF does mass produce cigars. Maybe a few iffy ones slip through that need to rest a lot longer than I’ve been giving them. This is a conundrum for me. Why should I buy cheaper cigars that I have to store for a year or more before they are reliably pleasant to smoke? If I had a walk-in humidor at home this would be no problem. I do plan to rest my smokes longer and to start aging some of them but I’m just getting started. I’m hoping as the months tick by this wrinkle will smooth over.

83, 022: Partagas Black

This is my last one, I think. It wasn’t as salty and twangy as the others and it didn’t burn as well but it never required a touch up though it could have used one. It was burning very warm. I probably won’t buy any more of these but I won’t rule it out yet. I’ve just recently replaced my 69RH Boveda with 65RH and now I’m using 62RH. I know it takes awhile for those dark Maddies to adjust.

83023 Rojas Bluebonnets robusto

First cigar in a week since I got sick last Sunday. It's pleasant, mild. Nice bready/grainy backbone, sweet finish. Graham cracker is the words I think. Mild spice blend nothing huge. It's just a nice pleasant smoke. Good.

83, 030 (correction): AJ Fernandez Rosa de Guadalupe Gordo (6.0"x60)

I was expecting a bad experience but this one was much better. Last half of final third the burn got crazy and I put it down w/only a smokable inch left. Beautiful cigar, a few thickish veins well distributed, sweet barnyard on nose and cold draw. Pepper bomb on kick off, nutty and toasty. First 2 thirds had a fruity finish in retro but I can’t nail down the specific flavor. Mineral throughout that built in final third. Occasionally salty notes and scant hints of molasses. I enjoyed it but probably won’t purchase again.

83031 Warped Chinchalle with thanks to leebot

It's the second one I've had. The first I wrote in my spreadsheet "pnut shell, dry wood" Had to try another because Warped is probably my favorite brand right now and I thought maybe I missed something. Maybe the humidity was off maybe it was too fresh. But that's really it after smoking a 2nd one: peanut shells, dry wood. I'll add in some bitterness and astringency as well that came in after halfway.

I often read reviews once I've gotten halfway through a cigar to see if my experience matches. This one matches on some parts - like the peanut shells and dry wood. But people mention pepper, spice, cream. I don't get any of that. It's a dry woody habano, exactly the kind of cigar I hate.

And unfortunately I bought a box of these before I tried em... I was hoping by trying leebot's cigar I'd see what they taste like after a little more rest than the first one I had and maybe it would be better. But it isn't. I did smoke the whole thing waiting for some transition to greatmess that never even hinted at coming along. It's rated not bad, rest of the box gets yard gar duty.
