My A/C is set at 68 any will be running through September, and has been running since April. If I could get it to snow inside, I would

I'm most comfortable 80-90. As long as the humidity isn't 80-90 I don't run ac. Thermostat is set at 80 when ac is on.

If im hot from doing yard work or something I go to the basement to cool off. It's always cool down there.

Good Monday Morning to All! It's 80° on the way to 92° today, the A/C is set to 73°, a compromise with my wife who would be happy with the 68° or less.

It’s 86 degrees and climbing with RH of 76 but that will probably fall some as the temperature goes over 90. Sticky and sweaty and miserable here. Have a terrific Monday.

Delicious lunch, my version of a Rubin. Toasted Pita bread, pastrami spiced turkey breast, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese and spread with a mixture of mayonnaise mixed with a squirt of ketchup and a spoonful of dill pickle relish. Warmed up in the microwave and ready to enjoy.

Hard to believe some of you peeps keep temps that low. I'm sure humidity plays a part but we generally keep ours at 77 and the wife usually complains it's too cold about 6pm each night. I might turn it down to 76 and always run a ceiling fan at night. Even when we have temps of 115 often and I run a pool pump 8 hours each day my electric bill has never been over $350.

Changed the air filter and cabin filter in the wife's car and then ran it down to get the oil changed. We just booked a week in a San Diego AirB&B for next week. It's considered Arizona's water front this time of year.

I could sure go for a Toasted Pita bread, pastrami spiced turkey breast, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese and spread with a mixture of mayonnaise mixed with a squirt of ketchup and a spoonful of dill pickle relish about now. 🤔

AC has been a little janky... set it for 75 inside the house and looked over and it was 78. Whut da fook? I've got a Trane system with a variable speed motor. The system is under warranty until 2028, but that doesn't cover labor.

Anywho... the house is staying cool, but I had the tech come out and look at the system. Yup, blower motor needs to be replaced. It's supposed to be going faster, but it doesn't. It's going enough to keep my house cool, but the reason for the temp spike was the fins inside iced over because it isn't blowing the warm air fast enough to keep that from happening.

Replaced my capacitor as well. Signed up for semi-annual maintenance and saved 40%. Still costing me $788 in labor to replace a blower motor. 🤦

I lived in San Diego for over 10 years and even though the temps got to 100+ at my house every year, I had no AC until the last 2 years. I got a window unit and a “portable” AC that helped a great deal. The temperature was bearable but indeed uncomfortable on the worst days before I got the AC. The power bill went through the roof of course. I was experiencing a change in my health and I needed some relief.

I agree with you 100% that humidity makes a difference. I would say it makes all the difference.

If you live somewhere it reaches 115, you're more acclimated to heat so 78 feels cool to you. Where I live it usually doesn't go over 85 and a 74 setting is considered high. Most ppl set 70-72. My mother and my nephew both set to 65 to sleep. It's like when winter comes around. At first 65 feels cold and I usually keep it around 70 until it gets really cold and I get used to it, then I can drop the setting to 65.

Temperature comparisons are meaningless without a humidity level. In California the humidity levers are very low and it usually cools down at night.

Except for HD and MACS, anyone moving to the South East, anywhere from Texas East, should spend a year without air conditioning. Just to make sure you like it here. 🤐

One cannot live in Florida without AC. This system runs 9 months out of the year.

Is that a lot for labor? Yes, it most certainly is, but they got you over a barrel and they 100% know it. If I called another company it would be similar... and this one installed the system and warranties the parts and repairs.

My warranty is good until 2028.

^Toker, we have our system serviced every year. It’s a cheap little system but of good quality and reliable. We replace the $16 air filters once a month. The peace of mind is worth every nickel.
