He was a great actor and played some classic characters. When I saw he was in M*A*S*H I couldn't place him but I was thinking of the series and not the movie until I read DMV's post. I totally forgot about that.

His son,Kiefer Sutherland, has also played some excellent characters.

Great in Klute, costarring an equally great performance by Jane Fonda.
