^ That said there are enough “never-Trump” swing voters that anything is possible. Like the saying goes he who laughs last laughs loudest. The Republicans chose the absolute worst candidate they possibly could. If the Democrats can push Biden aside either willingly or unwillingly and pick someone other than Newsome, Kamala or a squad member like AOC and Trump stays on the ballot we will have a Democrat as the next President-Elect come November.

Trump is an asshole. His core will support him but given anything resembling a passing sense of possibility and normalcy swing voters will jump at it and Trump loses.

The problem is the forest. Those too close to it can’t see what’s on the other side. They only see their view not the view of the people whose vote actually decides who wins.

I keep seeing the figure of 30%. That’s the % of voters who are MAGA Trumpers, or whatever term you choose. It’s a safe bet, I think, that those voters will not vote Democrat regardless. But will they come out to vote if Trump doesn’t run? I think it’s a safe bet that they will turn out to vote “against” the Democrats. As for the % of Never-Trump, I’m not familiar with any estimates. I’d be glad to hear a reliable source. I think a great portion of Democrat voters could be considered Never-Trump but how many of those would fall into the swing vote category with a different candidate from GOP who is less offensive to their political sensitivities? Trump is the nominee and barring a personal tragedy, he will be the one on the ticket IMHO. The only change with a remote possibility of realization is the DNC replacing Biden. I don’t think that is likely, especially at this late hour. I think it would discredit the DNC. Some may think this would give the DNC a boost of credibility. Perhaps it would but I don’t think so.

Are we looking at VP selection as the next most important thing in this race? Will it cause waves to oust the Black Woman Progressive who traditionally, as VP, would be heir apparent to DNC leadership following a two term President? Or is the next debate going to make a huge difference? I suppose if Trump does more poorly than he did last night and Biden knocks his socks off, that could make a difference. I don’t see that happening. What are possible happenings for an October surprise?

I thought they agreed to two. Am I mistaken?

Your point is absolutely well taken. Trump has everything to lose and Biden has very little to lose. If Biden simply didn’t stutter he would exceed expectations and I’m not saying that to be nasty.

You’re correct they did. But Trump’s campaign, NOT him, could and should say they feel it’s unfair to further embarrass Biden with a repeat of him with another episode of him looking feeble and incoherent on a worldwide stage and who could disagree?

I think Trump will be better, if there is a second debate……..with Biden.
But even if Trump is better, he will still annoy half the country.
Pretty sure without a prompter, pre-written notes and such, that Biden simply can’t do better.
It’s embarrassing. The rest of the world is looking at, us thinking……………..WTF??!!

Jill Biden should be charged with elder abuse.

We have a right to know who is actually the President of the US. It is clearly not Joe Biden.

Dr. Jill said all Trump does is LIE. 🤥 I heard she is a doctor of wurds, so we should believe her.

Yeah, Trump lied when he said we had the lowest interest rates in history during his presidency but the rates were actually a bit lower in the 1920’s and he lied when he said Democrats want to kill babies. On the other hand, Biden was just exaggerating when he said that the Border Patrol folks endorsed him for president and that we have 40% fewer illegal crossings at the border.

These blatant double standards and failures to examine the contents and the consequences of the lies is simply mind numbing. Trump lied about the interest rates? So what. No, it’s not ok if he lied but compared to Biden’s lies about the border situation…well there is no comparison. This is ludicrous.
