The 92 pounder was a horse. In researching at the time, we learned the largest purebred greyhound was 105 pounds. Yikes.

Understand the home visit obstacle. Although when we went to a greyhound Meet & Greet in Madison (2 hours south) we gave them our backgrounds and pictures of our home. All the throw rugs, the fenced off area for their business and some quick sprints. They were excited to get us a dog, pending that home visit. When they learned they would have to make the 4 hour round trip, they decided a Facetime, virtual visit was good enough.

We just wanted to make the connection in June. Weren't ready to pull the trigger until next Spring- unless a special situation arose.

Was able to bring up the picture. Some uncanny similarities.

-The look on his face is the spitting image of our 92 pound boy.
-His color and markings are almost identical for of little 60 boy who we lost to bone cancer when he was 4.

Horis had a parent who's first name is Superior. The track name of our 60 pounder was Superior Style.

Wonder if Horis is the reincarnation of our Buckner in Disco's body. 8-[

I got to meet Smokey Joe Buck(ner). Happy fella.

Got some supplies today... 40 pound monofilament line, and a brandy new Shimano Speedmaster 12. Will be having my Avet MXL serviced, I think... I'll put the new Shimano on that rod and will need a rod for the Avet when it comes back from service.

Avet has 32 lbs max drag. A 25 lb amberjack will pull that straight to the bottom and break me off. Speedmaster has 40 lbs max drag. The bigger ones will still pull it, but it'll wear 'em out faster... and it can serve double duty as my snapper rig and the bigger fish rig when I have my limit of snapper.

Wife worked with a Mexicana who loved my wife's cooking. She taught my wife how to make Empanadas and she's made about 12 dozen in the last couple weeks.

She brought some to church and they were a hit, so folks have been ordering them from her. Little side hustle.

He was as starcrossed as both Simon Bolivar and Bill Buckner. Died way before his time.

Small correction.

Buckner was our third. Smallish, dark brindled boy.
Smokey Joe was the 80 pound fawn colored boy without a tail. He was our fourth.

Oh, my Lord. I love empanadas. My ex-wife's family is from Chile - they were able to escape a couple years after Pinochet took power. Mamma Chella (ex-wife grandmother) would always make empanadas during family gatherings. Meat ones, cheese ones, veggie ones. They were awesome. I have her recipes somewhere.

When she was in the kitchen cooking, she took control of the stove and oven. My dog, Madison, probably benefited the most when she was around... he glued himself to Mamma Chella. Chella had a habit of "accidentally" dropping scraps of food on the floor and Madison was right there to clean it up.

He was no dummy. When Mamma Chella is in the house, Madison is sure to score some yummy human food "scraps".

Now I'm hungry for some empandas.

we're very friendly with two Chilean families, one still lives across the street and the other moved but not too far away...and they each make delicious empanadas.

They claim Chileans have learned how to do everything their own way as opposed to the rest of South America due to the geographical constraints that have limited interacting with "neighboring" countries.
Ocean one side, mountains the other...

Got the lawn mowed. Before the mow, while I topped off the gas tanks, my wife said, "I'm going to mow slower today so my wheel doesn't fall off." Lol

Good morning folks. Start of the looking decent before some storms move in to close it out. After today I think we start getting the remnants of the Debby through the rest of the week.
