In and out of consciousness in the recliner today... college football in the background.

I did get over 8000 steps in beforehand. Walked the dog and did a Costco run. Aside from taking a shower and eating... I ain't done much else.

In anticipation of the (sigh) winter, gave the neighbor kid $50 to make sure the snowblower is ready for the chore. It needed a new cable contraption to rotate the output shoot. It cost about $100 for the cable assembly and I give the kid $50 to change it and give it a tune up. Prolly about a 30 min job but if a kid wants to do some honest work, I don't mind overpaying. The pull start rope broke on it last year too so he wants to change that even though it has electric start.

It's good to have a back up plan.

Since it was a lot of layabout when Art was visiting I am still 1 day behind in my workouts... and since yesterday was a layabout day... I need to get to it.

Sunday Sunday Sunday.

Family birthday party next weekend I was asked to bring some BBQ.

Smoked some chicken thighs last night for an hour and then finished sous vide for shredded chickens.

Picked up a brisket and rubbed it, fridge overnight and on the smoker this morning.

Last couple of briskets I did... 4-5 hours on the smoker, finish in the oven in an aluminum pan with chopped onions under it, covered in foil. 275 degrees.

Comes out amazing. Tender and juicy.

I love tripe stew but my wife HATES the smell of the boiling tripe prior to making the dish so anytime we go out to eat and I see it on the menu, it’s almost AUTOMATIC that I’mma ordering it.

The one I’m not allowed to make is Bo Kho. (Vietnamese lemongrass beef stew). She’s not a fan of the star anise and five spice.

I used to make it on days the wife was commuting to downtown Houston.

Nope... and my wife loves brisket, so I doubt she'd b*tch about it.

See... now there's the crux. My wife is Asian, and she boils tripe to make her own dishes. She also cooks fish and cooks sardines and dried fish (Daing) which smells worse than Tank farts. (Which is why she cooks it in the garage)

So... I never worry about her complaining how my food smells.

Took the 7 year old to Pei Wei today for the first time. She took a few bites and said "daddy, I like your cooking way better." I asked her what color sports car I should get her when is old enough.

Easy fix on the fish cooking thing, don't cook it. Fish is yucky. I like fishing but I do catch and release since I dislike eating fish and stuff. It tastes yucky. Did I mention that fish and other related aquatic food is yucky?
