I hope so, though the embedded bureaucrats and the cable news services are probably already planning a war.

So if the terrorist organizations and countries follow up on a cease fire and eventually come to the table to stop their aggression now that they know Trump is going to be the President who claim credit?

The Democrats claiming that they have been working for this all along and their policy is finally working or the Republicans saying they (terrorists) are running scared knowing that the Trump administration will probably put the screws to the them?

In my opinion if the Dems won, the terrorists would keep doing their terrorists stuff knowing very little would change from US policy. Now that the Repubs won, the terrorists will turtle up to try to pretend to work for peace knowing that US policy will probably change and not in their favor.

Probably hear for new calls to fund Ukraine by the usual war mongers.

This is probably true. The Russia-Ukraine thing is a mess and I have no answers to that.

The Israel vs its hostile neighbors thing is also a mess but I would support not handcuffing Israel to do what it needs to do. If I was an enemy of Israel, I would not even try to poke them. When the rubber hits the road, they know how to kick the $hit out of their aggressors. History supports that fact.

I liked many of his economic and border policies but just like every admin the national debt ballooned in his term. In all the discussions leading up to this election I have not heard anyone on either side talk about debt reduction.

Yeah, we'll see. Seems to me promising to lower taxes, no tax on overtime, no tax on SS, etc are not going to help lower the deficit. Maybe kicking enough bureaucrats out the door will help and certainly getting a handle on illegal immigration. Right now I believe the interest on the debt is in the range of $1T each year.

It's a yuge issue. Maybe the yugest... I am HOPEFUL we start to reverse it. Anything to make it go down, however little, is better than what we're doing now.

Redirecting the Ukraine funding would be a great first step. The writing is on the wall, short of WWIII, the Russians can out wait Ukraine.

At the end of 2025 the US national debt will be higher than the end of 2024.

The last year the U.S. national debt shrank in absolute terms was in 1957. Since then, the debt has generally grown every year, although budget surpluses were achieved from 1998 to 2001 during the Clinton administration. These surpluses, however, did not reduce the total national debt significantly, as interest costs and other factors contributed to debt growth even when there was a surplus.

I think anything they can do won’t show results for at least a couple years. 2025 is going to be another lost year, certainly. If they can stop the debt in its tracks by 2026 that will be a successful milestone. If Trump is politically savvy he will need to get a few of those tax breaks to take hold so they can be felt before midterm elections and then roll the rest out in time to be felt for the 2028 general election. This comment is just my “coffee talk” though. As if I really know a damn thing about the details in this discussion 😂
