Nearly two hours on the phone with my sister and her husband, trying to figure out the best path forward for mom. Physical and cognitive decline is accelerating.

One day at a time.

One day at a time. I live by that. Thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. It's tough.

I lost two important family members this past year in a short time - both within a couple months. I've accepted it because I can't change it but it's still tough.

At some point the body gives out and the physical parts shut down. However, the spirit still lives inside us and those that they have touched. They will always be alive as long as we do not forget them.

A little poem that was part of my Dad's funeral.

Do not stand at my grave and weep. I am not there.
I am the winds that blow.
I am the diamonds in the snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
I am the uplifting rush of birds that circle in flight and the soft star that glows in the night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I'm not there, I did not die.

I think I slept wrong Saturday night. Left side was numb when I woke up. Hasn't improved much. Prolly pinched a nerve or sumpin'.

I hate to say it but you maybe looking at memory care down the road. Some try and handle at home but most are not equipped nor is their residence to handle what they will be faced with.

Prayers up for you and your family.

Oh well, I'm 0 for 2 in CT scans since this past Friday.

It appears that I have a lung biopsy coming up in the near future. I have a spot on my lung they have been watching for two years and it has started to increase in size in the last four months. The Doc is bumping my case to the board to get a consensus on how to proceed. They will recommend the needle through the chest wall or a bronchoscopic biopsy. The needle provides the more accurate results but there is a chance the lung may collapse. I was diagnosed with asthma this past summer and the Doc indicates my lungs are not in the greatest of shape.

I'm also looking forward to a cystoscopy and possible biopsy from my bladder wall. They found a cyst or something on the bladder wall that with my past smoking history it needs to be checked out.

One thing for sure is my azz will be knocked out for both.

Dan, hoping for negative results on both issues.

Took heed of Deadeyedick's tale and scheduled a dermatology appt. Got in yesterday and they took 5 biopsies and in about 2 weeks I should know the results. California, Virginia, Florida...other states and regions inbetween been active in the sun and when younger didn't use any protection. We'll see. Had my yearly in November and blood work all came back clean including PSA. I feel pretty good but wanted to get it checked out.

Good luck, DMV.

Thankfully there isn't a specific, potentially painful heat and humity, swamp crotch kind of thing out there to take Floridians down.

Day 3 of mom in the hospital.

Two days straight with potential discharge plans, thwarted by confusion and low oxygen levels.
Forget walking and chewing gum. Walking and breathing isn't happening as it should.
Damaged heart and a level of kidney dysfunction making each day difficult.
Can't get comfortable.
Being bumped up from two to three litres of oxygen per hour.
Doing to procedure to drain fuild from the outside of a lung in the morning.

Has an appointment the first week of March with a Palliative Care doctor.

Need to find a distraction for a few hours. Maybe I can find a sporting event to watch.

Same here Russ, prayers for you and yours. Wasn't too long ago when I was in a similar situation and it hurts. It eases over time but, at least for me, I don't think I'll be 100% over it. Stay strong.

Better safe than sorry. I have been wearing a sand wedge divot in the side of my head since Jan 2022. By chance, I made a dermatology appointment to get a rash checked on my thigh that would not go away. While there, I let them do a body check and they took two biopsies. They indicated I would get the results in a couple of weeks if everything was normal. They contacted me in less than a week and informed me that they had already made an appointment for me with a surgeon. As it turned out, I had a T2 melanoma. They were able to get it all but my surgeon/oncologist has told me that there is a 40% chance that it will return. I'm two years in on my five year dermatology/oncology scans for melanoma and so far no indications of it returning.

When melanoma returns it is not uncommon for it to be in the organs and it can show up as black dots between the toes.

If you spend a lot of time in the sun past or present, by all means get checked. It may save your life, melanoma is not something to @#$k around with.
