For Tony.

What 3 songs from this decade are your favorites? Songs that make you stop what you’re doing so you can sing along? Or songs that bring you back to a memorable moment in your life? Songs that just make you feel good?

Here are my 3 favorites:

All I Have to Do is Dream - Everly Brothers
Mack the Knife - Bobby Darin
Mr. Blue - The Fleetwoods

But, these are right up there too:

A Thousand Miles Away - The Heartbeats (and the 1961 "sequel" - Daddy's Home - Shep & the Limelites)
Goodnight, Sweetheart, Goodnight - The Spaniels
Since I Don't Have You - Skyliners

Tony, your turn.

I'll just pick 3 and change my mind about a half hour from now. If I go down the honorable mention road, my thumbs are going to cramp up.

Summertime Blues - Eddie Cochran
Johnny B. Good - Chuck Berry, you know, Marvin Berry's cousin
That'll Be the Day - Buddy Holly and all his Crickets

La Bamba -- Ritchie Valens

In the Still of the Night -- Five Satins

Earth Angel -- Penguins

close: Lonely Teardrops -- Jackie Wilson

I was born in 1953 and really wasn't into music until the 60's when my sister, neighbors and I would spin 45's all day long. Later in life, in my 30's, 40's and 50's, I usedta listen to Art Laboe's Oldies show on Sunday nights, and enjoyed music from the 50's. It was interesting to listen to his fans calling in to dedicate songs to their homies, mostly Latinas giving shout-outs to their homeboys in prison. That kinda had an impact on the songs I chose...

Can't cut it to three even though rock just got going.

Elvis, Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, the Everly Brothers, Link Wray, Little Richard, Dion and the Belmonts, the five Satins and many more.

Impossible, but I'll try to slim things down.

Best groups or artists: Buddy Holly, Everly Brothers. Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, The Diamonds, The Kingston Trio and the Platters
"
Best 3 Instrumentals: "Sleep Walk", "Tequila", "Walk, Don't Run" -- hard not to include Rumble by Link Wray

more to come

🌫 lots of great songs in the 50's considering that "Canadian Sunset" was at the top of the charts in 1956 when rock began to take over,
