It matters a lot how old you were then or iffn they just became favorites later but whenever two or more of us were in a car together we were singing to:

Stand By Me - Ben E King
Pretty Women - Roy Orbison
Satisfaction – Rolling Stones

I realize that there are CBid members that didn't live through, let alone weren't even alive during the '60s! 🌫

Kinda, sorta before my time but I do LOVE some songs from the mid-50s onward. I can't, OTTOMH, name 3 songs that I absolutely LOVE but will do a little bit of "research".

Not quite the same but for the '90s, '00s, etc. I don't really have any connection with those decades to want to post up a thread. FOGdom at its best. 🌫

Part of the reason I can’t identify with the music from the ‘90s is that I started my Hawaiian music mail order business in ‘92 so listened to w-a-y more of that stuff than the modern contemporary music on the radio.

90s were when I actually got current with music. Was always listening 20-30yrs behind, but started high school in 90/91. That's when chit got real
Nirvana Nevermind
Ozzy No More Tears
Metallica black album
Pearl Jam Ten
GnR Use your Illusion I & II
Chili Peppers Blood Sugar Sex Magik
And some others I'm likely forgetting. All released in one glorious year

I see some of you youngin's here like Cream.

Crossroads Recorded live at Fillmore Auditorium & Winterland Ballroom, San Francisco on the Wheels of Fire album was one of my favorites.
I don't think they make musicians like this anymore.

Wasn’t really a fair question. The 2nd iteration of the JHE (…and some say it really wasn’t a true JHE…) didn’t even have an official album. As I’mma sure you know, “Cry of Love” came out after Jimi died and wasn’t considered a finished product.

I do remember him playing “Freedom” and “Dolly Dagger” at the show here. Probably played a few more new songs but have no recall of them.

of course I liked stuff after the first three albums, but those are where my memory goes when his name comes up...no knock on Buddy Miles et al.

as long as I'm here, if I disqualify Beatles/Stones production, off the top of my head for the 60's (really very end of the 60's) I'd say...

Darkness Darkness- Youngbloods (I know you loved JCY)
Hot Fun In The Summertime- Sly
More Today Than Yesterday- Spiral Starecase...was kinda TLC and my "song" so always special.

and I could come up with another dozen 3's easily.
I loved the Kinks and the Byrds as much as any other bands

1. Whole Lots Love - Zeppelin

2. I Can't Get No Satisfaction -Stones

3. Ramble On - Zeppelin
