getting over a chest cold/bug ...still lack energy... beautiful weather here, highs in the 80's and lows in the 50's going to waste...

desperate for entertainment, I watched Dodgers vs Reds spring training baseball...told my wife we should drive to Camelback Ranch in AZ to see a game in person...I took her non-response as a "no"...for S n G, I looked up ticket prices and holy moly, they were much more expensive than I presumed...$160 for one box seat along the baselines

From the recent snow fall/freezing rain last week I still have some small branches and twigs to harvest for feed stock for fire pit kindling.

Had an urge to do some pulled pork before the snow and freezing weather came so I bought a pork shoulder. I didn't have room in the freezer so I put it in a cooler on the deck. It's cold so let Mother Nature freeze it. Then the snow and ice came. Frank! I ain't gonna dig out the shoulder I wanted to cook so I went and bought another. Made my pulled pork and it's yummy.

On the deck in a cooler there's a bone in 7 lb pork shoulder on the back deck under the snow. Supposed to get a heat wave this week into the 40's so maybe if the snow melts I can recover that chunk of pork. Still no room in the freezer so I'll have to do another batch of pulled pork... prolly it this weekend weather permitting.

Not that there is anything wrong with pulling your pork. Last one I made was Carolina vinegar based BBQ. I think this one will be tomato based BBQ.

I'm blown away by the darkness out here at night, even at the resort.

I walked off campus but not far to the parking lot of a trailhead to smoke a cigar without getting harassed.

I could see the faint glow of the milky way and innumerable stars. Saw 3 meteors.

This is such a gorgeous area. Ded, oak creek canyon is lovely. Didn't hike there, but drove through. On the way back got stuck behind tourists who haven't driven canyon switchbacks. 15mph riding brakes the whole way. My rental cars transmission won't let me hold over 3krpm to get enough engine braking so had to stab the brakes a thousand times coming down.

I like it here, do wish I stayed somewhere else though. I recognize the hypocrisy but while being a tourist I hate being around tourists. We went up to Jerome today. Loved the state park museum thing. But the town itself with all the overpriced junk shops and crowds on crowds of just people on people was uncomfortable.

Grand Canyon was also mind blowing. We went first thing in the morning, the crowds were coming in as we left.

Another thing I noticed, away from tourist areas, is nobody seems to be in a hurry to get anywhere. I'm used to driving Chicago style where speed limits are barely a suggestion, drive and pass in whichever lane has a gap. 75mph speed limit sign to me means 100 since 55 means 80 and 65 means 90 back home. But it seems like most drivers do the posted limit or less, and return to the right lane after passing.

Oh, and the amount of hippie bullchittery around here is also mindblowing.

34 degrees and no windchill.
Repeat- No Wind Chill.

The only word I can use is …… Joy.

For the first time in three weeks, the plan is to work a full day at the shop.

Tough day yesterday. Rebounding today.

Blessings to you good people. And also to those who aren’t.
