Got to the airport too early. Gave myself 2.5 hours cushion. Only needed one. No traffic at all going to the airport. Parked and walked to the shuttle right as they were loading, and then no line for security when we arrived.

Sat down with almost 2 hours till our flight...

These situations are a fine excuse to have some nasal snuff. Not as hick as some chaw and can pack one good wallop of vitamin N. A duty-free store might even have a 4g tin of Willsons of Sharrow tucked under the register. I've accomplished this at LVX, DEN and SLC ymmv

Enjoy Sedona. Next time consider Show Low.

I don't mind traveling. I'm not afraid of flying. What is the PIA is the whole process of going to the airport, going through the check in process and stuff. I just do check a on bag - I fly light. One small luggage thing for overhead and a personal bag that fits under the seat so I don't have to deal with collecting my luggage when I get to the destination.

Most of my travels are to back home to visit family in WI. If I forget something, I'll just go to the local Walmart or whatever to resupply. On one trip to WI with a puddle jumper from Chicago to Milwaukee, my check on bag was put into the belly of the plane because the overheads were full. No worries. Somehow the bag didn't make it to Milwaukee, it was sent to Minneapolis. WTF?

It took them a day to bring it back.

Funny story on that misplaced bag - getting a replacement set of underwear at the local place. Look at the package label. When it says the size on the package, make sure it's adult and not child. I bought a set of boxers that where my size (or so I thought) but they turned out to be kids size not adult size. I had to go back and get big boy underwear. Gave the kid ones to my sister-in-law to donate to the local clothing donation thingy.

Somewhere in WI there are kids wearing child size boxer brief underwear as a result of me not looking at the package correctly.

Moral of the story... I don't have one... other than I prefer adult sized boxers or boxer briefs rather than child size ones.

Better to be two hours too early than two hours too late. 😰

DED the traffic trying to go north is bad. Entire highway closed detoured to surface roads this is horrible. I was warned. But holy chit.

Landed 48 minutes early.

Got to resort in pitch black dark. I don't think I've ever seen night this dark. Took 3 hours to get here. I packed a sammich and banana to take on the plane. Wife n boy had food too but they ate it at the gate waiting for the plane cause "its time to eat" I reminded them it may be better to wait till you're hungry. I ate when I got hungry so I was fine after we got to the resort. But then I had to go find a grocery store to get them food.

Also the Nissan Rogue is a chit vehicle. I hate it.

I'll have a talk with the ADOT people. They close a section of the highway each weekend either going north or south for construction. Had I known you were traveling on a Saturday this could have been avoided.

Glad ya made it to the destination but you sure missed some fine scenery iffn it was dark when you arrived. Look up Enchantment Resort and drive there for a look.

The ADOT should take notes from the land of perpetual road construction in Chicago. You leave the highway open, just close 1-2 lanes at a time and convert the shoulder to a second lane if necessary. I'd say they finish half and switch the lanes to do the second half but that's only in theory. In practice, it just becomes a 2 lane highway with lots of orange cones and K rail. But at least it's not closed entirely.

Sunday Sunday Sunday

Woke up to some beautiful views we couldn't see in the dark.

Not gonna do much/go anywhere today being the weekend, hoping weekdays will be less crowds n stuff. Gonna explore the resort and maybe do whatever hike is the closest. Wife said she wants to go to grand canyon tomorrow

Lots of hippie chit out here. Went through the brochure rack. Healing crystal therapy, drum circles, group yogas, lots of things that say "spiritual".

Sedona is the natural territory of the greater North American Karen. If Bearizona is open, it's a drive through animal preserve in Williams, on the way to grand canyon.

They do that on the 101 construction but it just takes twice as long and where there are interchanges involved it can't be done with traffic present so it is done on a weekend when theoretically there is less traffic involved. Don'tknow iffn you are staying a whole week but they may close a section of southbound next weekend as they alternate when possible.

If you head to the Grand Canyon you can keep an eye out for the trail head to West Fork #108 as you go up Oak Creek Canyon. My favorite hike in the area.
