brings joy to my heart to read Stogie's post of sharing mountain biking excursions with his daughter. I remember doing activities exclusively with my daughter: no mom, no son/brother...just the two of us; running around our neighborhood, shooting hoops at the park, hiking, road trips to national and state parks and California missions. We really bonded doing those things together and we continued until she graduated college and found her life's mate. I believe they were foundational moments that will last a lifetime, and has "paid dividends" as we still enjoy each other's company, although now with her own family.

Glad it stirred up good memories, Delta, and thanks gents. I try really hard to understand that the opportunities for those foundational memories are precious, and not to squander them. Hopefully it counter-balances whatever ridiculous and embarassing stuff I do to them later...

Moving to Little Rock to complete the first part of my residency at the VA hospital there. I'll be there for either one year, three years (preferably), or indefinitely depending on the job market once I am done.

Had over 13,000 steps before noon today. Walked the dog, trip to Home Depot and grocery store, cut the grass, did the trimming and edging... then used 4 more bags of manure/compost in the wheel barrow and hand spread it on the brown spots. Grass is really starting to look good.

Tank likes to follow me around the yard and scare the crap out of people walking by (that don't already know him). I hit the dog lottery with this guy... he's a peach. No leash... doesn't leave the yard.

Comes when called 98.2% of the time. If he's got his nose in something, he will ignore you... and then when you go to get him he thinks it's a game and runs back to the house.

I think I have earned myself a couple brewskis.

130 steps so far today. 10 hours of conference calls.

I could go for some Rubios fish tacos.

Good Tuesday Afternoon to All! Great to get back to the range this morning, I was able to shoot one perfect target with practice ammunition so I was quite happy.

Is it November yet? Asking for an old guy.

Gonna water the gardens once it cools down, maybe around 5:30.

You guys have a good evening.

A beautiful day on the golf course with my two brothers and a friend. Started out at 78 and sunny and got up to 95 by the time we were on the patio of the clubhouse having a few beers. Can't say my game was that great today but while we were drinking a bird landed in our scorecard and took a ch!t. I guess his assessment was correct.

Busy few days, work tomorrow.

Finally have some warmth (80 yesterday, 81 today) until the rains and wind came.

No thunder. They are in Oklahoma.

Eat em, can em, freeze em, & give some to those in need.

You would be surprised how much food and water it takes for two people to live for 6 months.

Double that if you want enough vegetables to last for a year.

And we stick to a pretty regimented diet. I eat 2,500 calories a day and the wife eats 1,500.

For example, we canned 98 pints of marinara last year and we have 4 pints left. So we prolly need more than that to last us a year. That doesn't even take into account salsa and diced...

So instead of growing 50+ tomato plants, I think we got 87 this yr 😟

Speaking of thunder... know what they don't do in the rain/thunder?

Refill propane tanks. Tried to get mine refilled yesterday while it was raining. They don't do that... apparently it's dangerous to refill propane tanks during rain storms.

File that under knowledge recently acquired... I did not know that.
