Allman Brothers Band - Brothers and Sisters

Ironically their most popular album but sadly without Duane and Berry. Saw them in Sept. 1973 in their one and only appearance in Hawaii.

Michael Nesmith - The Prison: A book with a soundtrack

Back in my college days, I would put this on while reading the “book” and nod off. Luckily I had an automatic turntable so the tonearm lifted off, returned to its resting place and turned off at the end of the record.

Rod Stewart / Faces - Coast to Coast: Overture and Beginners (and more)

Despite mostly poor reviews, I really enjoyed this 1974 release. Rod hadn’t yet found Britt Ekland and Ronnie Wood could still play guitar. With the help of a couple bootleg CDs, I expanded the official release by about 20 minutes.

Reggae night.

The first is a mixed disc of older, more traditional reggae and ska. Artists such as Desmond Dekker, Jimmy Cliff, Culture, Melodians, Ken Boothe, Toots & the Maytals, etc. The second disc is my favorite Linton Kwesi Johnson songs. Irie!

The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band

Got the record for Christmas in 1967. It was one of the first albums I owned but it’s been years since I’ve listened to the whole album in one sitting. Guessing around 30 to 35 years.

The Cars - Greatest Hits

One of my favorite groups from the late ‘70s - early’80s.

Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jeff Beck

March 19, 1984, CBS Convention, Honolulu, HI

Meant to play some SRV last week on 8/27 to commemorate his passing 35 years ago but missed it.

Joe Cocker - Sheffield Steel

A very underrated album from Joe. Influenced by Chris Blackwell and the Compass Point Allstars, this definitely has a reggae vibe.

Free - Songs of Yesterday, Disc 4

Pulled down the box set from my out-of-sight, out-of-mind storage space. Disc 4 has songs from 3 1970 concerts, arguably the peak of the group's career.

Jimi Hendrix - a couple of mixed discs. First one all studio stuff, the other, live cuts from "The Jimi Hendrix Experience" box set.

RIP Jimi. Can't believe it's been 55 years since his passing.

Beatles - Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club

Disc 2 of the two-disc release. Outtakes and alternate versions. Probably the one and only time I’ll listen to them.

A mixed disc of horn-dominant or highly featured in the songs. Artists include:

Blood, Sweat and Tears
Chicago (Transit Authority)
Lighthouse
Van Morrison
Boz Scaggs
Isaac Hayes
Billy Joel
Tower of Power

ZZ Top - Tres Hombres

My favorite ZZ Top album. Saw them open up for the Stones in January 1973. They were fantastic and played at least a couple songs from the yet, unreleased "Tres Hombres."
