Despite a 20+knot wind, we found them schooling and had a great time. We didn't place in the tournament but we got watered and fed and had a great time.

Niiiice. About how much do they weigh? Are these large or small for this type of fish? They look good sized to me.

Is there a slot size in TX??

I know you can't keep those BIG ocean-going reds in FL.

Texas has a slot limit on Redfish. You're allowed to keep 3 between 21 and 28 inches and get a tag for one oversized fish. The ones in these photos are 25 1/2 inches and weigh 6 lbs. The winner of the oversized category weighed in a 25 pounder. I've seen them as large as 40 lbs!!!! My largest was 30 lbs and actually came out of fresh water in a lake where they stock saltwater redfish in freshwater.

You must tell us how you plan to cook those babies. Grilled, blackened or something else!

Inquiring minds (or just an inquiring chef) want to know!

I have some speckled trout, spotted weakfish to some, that I'll probably eat first if I can find my wife's famous beer battered recipe for frying. The redfish will most likely go on the grill.

Mmmmmmmmm............specks will sho'nuff fry.

I shake everglades heat seasoning and lemon juice on redfish, brush with oil and broil/grill.

Damn I'm getting hungry.

My brother in law just called and told me that he hit the schools again and had 2 rods out and got fish on both more than once today!

Charlie, I outlined the newest regs on redfish above. The only thing I didn't mention is that now when you buy a fishing liscence in Tx. it doesn't allow you to fish. You still have to buy a saltwater stamp and now a fresh water stamp too!? Why don't they just charge you an extra $20 and leave it at that.

Howdy Ed!!! Long time no see over here.

You going to be here for Christmas again this year? I'm not sure what I'll be doing or where I'll be doing it. Without Mary I don't want to hang around the house. I was thinking of Atlanta since I have brothers and nieces and nephews there. I haven't been able to make any of Mary's and my fishing holes yet, just too hard.

Let me know your plans!
